UTILIZATION AND INCREASE OF SEAWEED PRODUCTION FOR THE COMMUNITY OF TOROKEKU VILLAGE TINANGGEA SUB-DISTRICT, KONAWE SELATAN, SOUTHEAST SULAWESI. Torokeku Village, Tinanggea Sub-District, South Konawe Regency is one of the villages that produce seaweed and various types of sea fish caught from Southeast Sulawesi. The problems faced by residents include: 1) Decreasing the amount of production and quality of seaweed, 2) Low level of entrepreneurial knowledge possessed, 3) lack of MSMEs as a single forum for independent business development for Torokeku Village residents. The specific goals and targets of the KKN-PPM: 1) Increasing the production and quality of seaweed seeds, 2) Increasing the skills of citizens in processing seaweed into various ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook products such as dodol, meatballs and seaweed nuggets, 3) Establishment and co-operative assistance for citizens. The methods used to achieve these goals are training, mentoring, lectures, discussions, direct visits, practices and demonstrations. The activities carried out included: (1) Making seaweed nursery gardens (2) Demonstration on various processed products ready to eat and ready to cook (dodol, meatballs and nuggets of seaweed), (3) Pioneering fishing cooperatives and UMKM, (4) Providing learning facilities for children and the community of Torokeku Village in the form of socializing education on the concept of sustainable fisheries as well as mentoring learning in schools and TPA.
Highlight ResearchDipped lamp technology with CCTV (UFLPlus) to catch fish was designed in such a way that the placement of components contained was integrated, water-proof, and having a good light distribution. The existence of a CCTV in new innovated UFLPlus that can record events in the water and greatly assist fishing activities of fishermen on passive fishing gear such as boat charts.UFLPlus worked well to increase the number of hauling every night of fishing (from 20-30 kg to 50-60 kg per hauling).AbstractThe usage of underwater immersion lights outfitted with CCTV is a technological innovation that is expected to solve the inadequacies of the acoustic work system while also improving the existing underwater immersion light work system. Underwater Fish Lamp Plus (UFLPlus) technology can attract attention and directly monitor the condition of fish in the sea from the boat. The purpose of this study was to understand how the UFLPlus was designed and constructed; to test its performance using lamplight, waterproof, and immersion tests; to learn how the light distribution pattern is formed; and to learn the state of the catch. The study was separated into two phases: the design and fabrication of UFLPlus, and numerous laboratory-scale experiments and outdoor trials with boat lift net fishing gear. The results reveal that UFLPlus performed effectively in the field after all of its physical components were tested in the laboratory, and that the values of light intensity and light distribution patterns are still in accordance with the level of adaptation to light reception on the fish retina. During the trial catch, 62 kg of anchovy (Stolephorus sp.), 27 kg of ponyfishes (Leiognathus sp.), 32.5 kg of fringe-scale sardinella (Sardinella fimbriata), and 17.5 kg of yellow-stripe scad (Selaroides leptolepis) were caught. UFLPlus was capable of functioning as an underwater immersion lamp that attracts fish attention and directly monitors the arrival of fish in the water in the fishing area.
Muara Tinobu Village is one of the coastal villages located in Lasolo District, North Konawe Regency. The abundance of fishery resources is not accompanied by adequate use of light fishing technology, so that the number of catches obtained is erratic. The purpose of this activity is to increase the competitiveness of the bagan business by increasing the number of catches through the use of UFLPlus by attracting the arrival of fish so that they are easily accessible to small-scale bagan fishermen. Methods of activities carried out include: (1) Analysis of the situation, problems and needs of partners; (2) Material preparation; (3) Implementation of Training; (4) Application of UFLPus Technology in the Field; (5) Partner Knowledge Evaluation. The method of activities in the field is to use UFLPlus. The results are proven to be able to increase the catch by 2 -3 times from the use of surface lights. The results of community service activities are new knowledge and skills related to the use of UFLPlus technology, how to assemble and apply it to the actual environment, as well as a guidebook for using UFLPlus. The training materials provided include: (1) Counseling on the use of UFLPlus as a light fishing technology that can assist fishermen in fishing operations. This technology is used in fishing gear that operates at night. The use of light is thought to be most effective in gathering fish; (2) Methods of Assembly and Instructions or procedures for using UFLPlus, after the extension activities are carried out in which the material is delivered by the community service team and assisted by extension workers from the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service of North Konawe Regency, followed by question and answer activities regarding all matters related to light fishing and use of UFLPLus technology. The next activity was UFLPLus assembly training and producing 1 set of UFLPlus tools. The community service program can increase the income of fishermen and the competitiveness of the charter business in Muara Tinobu Village and other areas in North Konawe Regency. There was an increase in the number of catches by 2 to 3 times compared to if fishermen only used surface lights as usual. Training activities which include counseling, workshops and implementation of the use of UFLPlus which are equipped with guidebooks related to UFLPlus.
