La diabetes mellitus tipo II es uno de los principales problemas de salud a nivel nacional, existen diversos factores de riesgo para su desarrollo. Las enfermedades crónicas como la diabetes generan un cambio en el estilo de vida no sólo de quien la padece, sino de su círculo familiar y social más cercano; lo que a su vez puede derivar en afectaciones en la calidad de vida. Por lo tanto, los objetivos del presente estudio fueron determinar el nivel de calidad de vida de una muestra de pacientes con diabetes tipo II que asisten a un Centro de Salud de Pachuca, Hidalgo; además de evaluar la relación que existe entre calidad de vida y las variables sociodemográficas de dicha muestra. El diseño fue no experimental transeccional. Se evaluaron a 27 pacientes con diagnóstico de diabetes mellitus tipo II con el instrumento Diabetes Quality of Life (DQOL) y con una ficha de datos sociodemográficos. Los resultados indican que los niveles más altos de calidad de vida se reflejaron en las dimensiones de preocupación por aspectos sociales y vocacionales, satisfacción con el tratamiento e impacto con el tratamiento; mientras que las dimensiones más afectadas fueron el bienestar general y la preocupación acerca de los efectos futuros de la diabetes. Así mismo, se comprobó que existe una relación modera, positiva y estadísticamente significativa entre el tiempo de evolución de la enfermedad y el impacto negativo del tratamiento.
