RESUMOO EBOV representa um dos vírus mais perigosos e mortais que existe a nível mundial, podendo afetar os humanos e determinados animais, como por exemplo os primatas. O morcego é um dispersor de transmissão, além de funcionar como reservatório natural do mesmo. A transmissão da doença se dá através de fluidos corpóreos como sangue, saliva, vômito, sêmen e outros. Este vírus é responsável pela doença Ebola (EVD) que se caracteriza principalmente por febre hemorrágica com possíveis coagulopatias, choque séptico e cuja taxa de mortalidade varia entre 25% e 90% dependendo da espécie, sendo uma doença requerente de severo controle. Este trabalho teve por objetivo descrever a reemergência em saúde do vírus ebola. Foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico, utilizando os descritores: Ebola, vírus Ebola, febre hemorrágica e Ebola, patogênese do Ebola, tratamento do Ebola, prevenção do Ebola nos indexadores SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online), LILACS (Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde), PubMed e Google Acadêmico no período 10 anos em língua portuguesa, espanhola e inglesa. O Ebola é um agente viral que apresenta grande capacidade de alastramento, uma vez que o primeiro surto do vírus data de 1976 na África.
