Transit and risk: consequences of modernityAbstract: The purpose of this article is to reflect on the risk, within the urban system, more specifically in traffic, from the reflections in the theoretical field called structuring, guided by Giddens, Beck and Hannigan, among other authors. The approach refers to the implications of the risk society in this transit environment, as a consequence of modernity, which ambivalently brings facilities in the mobility of people and goods, with insecurity and risk in traffic as constitutive elements of life in cities. The perceptions of risk, besides being linked to issues of environment, culture and the common sense of the subjects, are linked to the expert systems in which we trust. For that, the text was organized in order to characterize the risk society, the expert system, and the risk in the traffic, and finally, to analyze the context by explaining to what extent our risky conduits are built in traffic.
