Volumen 49, Fasciculus 1 (1966) -No. 82-83 725 azides with an hexapeptide. The two latter have been obtained from the hexapeptide by the recurring method, using active trichlorophenyl esters.Comparison of the biological activities of these compounds with those of the corresponding analogues still bearing the a-amino group shows that suppression of this amino group decreases the pressoric/antidiuretic ratio of these compounds.Laboratoires de Chimie pharmaceutique SANDOZ S. The highly active peptide hormones isolated from pig thyroids – i.e. α‐thyrocalcitonin and its sulfoxide, containing 32 amino acid residues – were subjected to sequence studies using chemical and enzymatic methods. On the basis of these studies the following structure was derived for α‐thyrocalcitonin:
In the α‐thyrocalcitonin sulfoxide (designated formerly as β‐thyrocalcitonin) the methionine residue is replaced by methionine sulfoxide.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
