The Author. since the abundance of the water-supply in the summer rendered it unnecessary to store water for the crop which was grown in that season ; all that would be needed would be storage of a part of the plethora of the summer supply for the irrigation of the cold-weathers crop, which was the more valuable of the two crops, while it did not require very much water. The Author was of opinion that irrigation storage-works would be found feasible where favourable sites for the reservoir and dam were procurable, and where other conditions were also favourable. Since the reservoirs could be scoured for about half of the year, it need not be feared that they would silt up. Supplies of cheap hydroelectric power would be concomitant advantages of the greatest value for a province which contained no good coalmines .
