Sodium nitrite is not quantitatively reduced under the present experimental conditions, since alkaline reduction of nitrates and nitrites with iron(II) are quantitative only in 28% sodium hydroxide (17) and lower alkali concentration requires silver or copper catalyst (18).Interferences. The use of iron(II) in acidic and alkaline media for reduction of nitro and nitroso groups has the advantage over titanium(III), since very little interference is (16) F. Human awareness of several odorants at varying concentrations were monitored within different environments. The effects of distractions, unfamiliarity with the test environment, and previous training were found to be significant. Efforts were directed at determining not only the odorant levels that can be detected, but also the levels that will be detected.
By use of procedures developed previously at this research center, five feedstock samples of used lubricating oil obtained from re-refineries were characterized indetail. A combination of si lica-aluminti gel and gel permeation chromatography was used to separate the oi Is into simpler fractions for analysis by low voltage mass spectrometry. The data show the various samples to be extremely similar, implying that an acceptable reclamation procedure should produce consistent re-refinery product with minimal effects from feedstock variations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
