Pharmazeutisch-chemisches Laboratorium SANDOZ, Base1 (26. I. 59) 17. 440 400 1:ig. 2. I H.-Absor~lionsspektra ,in K B r (PERKTK-ELMER Zweistrahl-Spektrograph Modell 21)
IlELVETICh CHIMICA ACTA. 1 1 , l l '-Di..cis-@-carotene was synthesized awarding to a new scheme C14 + ( I l a + C14 = C,, by condensing the crystalline C,,-diace,tylenic hydrocarbon 3 , X-dimethyl-decatriene-(3,5,7)-diyne-(l, 9) at both ends with @-C14-aldehyde followed by dehydration and partial hydrogenation of the triple bonds. ll,ll'-Di-cis-/?-carotene shows about one third of the vitamin A activity of all-trana-p-c,arotene and is structurally related to it in the same way as the important visual pigment neo-b-retinene t o retinene. ll,ll'-Di-cis-/?-carotene is more abable to heat tJhan l:i,I5'-ais-@-carotene.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
