A generic tool is described for creating an inexpensive yet powerful digital
learning environment. Originally developed to supplement a modern physics
course in a traditional large university classroom setting and based on a
flexible database structure, it can be easily adapted to all fields of physics and
indeed to all science courses. The integration of modern views on physics
teaching and learning with information and communicaton
technology has resulted in a very positive
response from both lecturers and students.
