Modeling applications and Quality of Service (QoS) features is now quite easy using UML and its extensions (profiles). However, to write code ensuring properties such as deadlines remains difficult. For non-critical systems, a simpler approach attempting to supply QoS properties but without guarantee may be satisfactory. In this direction, we propose to build adaptable autonomous systems that modify dynamically their behavior in order to fit their execution context, and to provide services with the expected QoS properties. Such systems have common properties: this paper defines first a generic component basedframework, and then gives a general model for the code of adaptable applications. Finally, code generation using Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is outlined.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
