This study examines the features of the traditional houses of Laftan village in Farah Province, Western Afghanistan. The composition of the Laftan village was found to be strongly related to the local climate, topography, and the mosques as the center of the community. All the houses in the village are one-story buildings constructed with pakhsa (pressed mud) wall and domical vault roofs of sun-dried bricks. The plans, cooling systems, and roof types of houses depend on the age of the houses.
