, autor dziewiętnastu książek poetyckich 1 , urodził się w 1935 roku w Endrychowcach − miejscowości ówczesnego powiatu wołkowyskiego w województwie białostockim (dzisiejsza Białoruś). Krótką sielankę dzieciństwa poety zburzyła najpierw śmierć ojca, Józefa, a ostatecznie zniszczył wybuch wojny w 1939 roku. Szlacheckie pochodzenie zmusiło matkę, Władysławę, z dwójką małych dzieci, Wiesławem i Haliną, do ukrywania się. Znaleźli oni schronienie u kuzynostwa oraz w domach miejscowych Białorusinów 2. Poeta wspomina wojnę jako czas nieustannych ucieczek przed wrogiem. W 1946 roku matka Wiesława Kulikowskiego zdobyła dokumenty niezbędne do opuszczenia nowo utworzonej Białoruskiej Republiki Radzieckiej i wraz z dziećmi wróciła pociągiem towarowym w rodzinne strony, do podmieleckiego Rzemienia. Po kilku latach rodzina przeniosła się do Brzyścia, wioski należącej do gminy Gawłuszowi
