& Key message The emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire), an alien pest native to Asia, has spread to Ukraine and 16 regions of European Russia. It severely damages Fraxinus pennsylvanica Marsh. introduced from North America, but serious damage to European ash (Fraxinus excelsior L.) has not been detected in forests. & Context The first detection of A. planipennis in European Russia was in Moscow in 2003, when it began to spread. & Aims To determine the range of A. planipennis as of 2020. & Methods In 2017-2020, our Russian-Ukrainian research team examined > 7000 F. pennsylvanica trees and > 2500 F. excelsior trees in 84 localities of European Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. & Results The current range exceeds the area of Spain and includes the Luhansk region of Ukraine and 16 regions of ER:

A new data on the fauna of Coleoptera of the Lower Volga and the Middle Don regions (Volgograd and Astrakhan Regions, Kalmykia) are given on the basis of author's research during 2014-2019. Taphoxenus goliath Faldermann, 1836 (Carabidae) is recorded for the fauna of Russia for the first time. Three species, Acinopus picipes Olivier, 1795, Dinodes decipiens (Dufour, 1820) (Carabidae), Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire, 1888 (Buprestidae) (an invasive species, which is included in the list of quarantine objects of Russia) are listed for the Lower Volga region for the first time. Acinopus laevigatus Ménétriés, 1832 is firstly listed for the Lower Volga and the Middle Don regions, and Oedesis caucasicus (Dejean, 1831) is the first record for the Middle Don (within Volgograd Region). Harpalus hospes Sturm, 1818 is a rare species, which was known from the Lower Volga region only on one specimen and was collected here the second time. Upis ceramboides (Linnaeus, 1758) (Tenebrionidae) was found in the most southern part of the range (the first record for Volgograd Region).
A brief review of the genus Cryphaeus Klug, 1833 of the Russian Far East is given. Two species occur in this region: C. amurensis (Heyden, 1884) in the Primorsky and Sakhalin regions and C. albopilosus Chûjô et Lee, 1993 in the Primorsky Region (new record for Russia).
