Esse artigo apresenta um esforço de reflexão coletiva que tem por base as pesquisas individuais de cada um dos coautores, como também dimensões mais amplas das pesquisas e debates levados à cabo no âmbito de nosso grupo de pesquisa. São Paulo vive nos últimos anos um cenário onde a Prefeitura e a Secretaria Municipal de Cultura e Economia Criativa apresentam propostas que salientam a área central da cidade como polo estratégico de economia criativa e turismo, com pressupostos que conflitam tantas vezes com as ações e lutas daqueles grupos/coletivos que produzem e consomem as práticas culturais e a vida cultural/musical da cidade de São Paulo naquelas territorialidades. Isto ressalta que o centro da cidade e noções de criatividade, empreendedorismo cultural e cidade musical se mostram em disputa, tanto em suas narrativas como também na prática efetiva dos diversos atores aí envolvidos (empresários, coletivos, ativistas urbanos, poder público etc.). Por meio das pesquisas de campo de inspiração etnográfica e derivas pela cidade que temos realizado, buscamos compreender este contexto, mas tendo como foco as economias criativas que se mostram de certa maneira insurgentes e dissidentes tais como as práticas de produção artística/musical de grupos por nós analisados nas áreas centrais da capital paulista. Privilegiamos as territorialidades da avenida Paulista, Baixo Augusta/Anhangabaú e Bixiga enquanto regiões potentes na discussão ambígua e conflituosa sobre economias criativas em suas possibilidades e limites. Salientamos a música e suas práticas como força central e aglutinadora de ativismos, socialidades e afectividades nas formas de fazer a cidade.
