O cenário competitivo atual exige que as organizações busquem métodos de trabalho que garantam o atendimento aos requisitos do cliente, estejam estes relacionados a preço, prazo, quantidade e/ou qualidade. O trabalho padronizado (TP) é um método voltado para a redução da variabilidade dos processos de modo a alcançar os requisitos dos clientes e objetivos internos das organizações, porém para a eficácia do padrão determinado existe a necessidade de um plano de abordagem para apresentação e preparação dos colaboradores. Uma das maneiras da aplicação do trabalho padronizado é o uso da metodologia TWI (Training Within Industry) que possibilita a padronização do processo combinado com o treinamento e qualificação no local de trabalho. Neste contexto o presente trabalho visa reduzir o índice de PPM de devolução de cliente e melhorar a sistemática de inspeção visual por meio da padronização do processo de inspeção, utilizando a metodologia TWI em uma empresa de autopeças do interior de São Paulo. Os dados utilizados nesse estudo foram coletados por meio de uma pesquisa-ação. A partir da implementação da metodologia TWI, que incluiu à análise do local de trabalho, a definição do trabalho padronizado, o treinamento e a qualificação no local de trabalho, foi obtido à redução do índice de PPM de cliente de 0,96 para 0,57, o que representa 41% de redução frente à meta estabelecida de 10% das devoluções de produtos pelo cliente, e melhoria na sistemática da inspeção visual por meio do treinamento e instrução de trabalho padronizada.
