The hip joint provides movement and stability to the body, acting synchronously during gait with the entire musculature of the lower limbs, spine and pelvis. As it is a joint-axis of the lower extremity, it requires careful attention in relation to physical examination, clinical history, risk factors, early diagnosis and adequate treatment of pathologies that may affect the region. The main disorders of the pediatric hip are developmental dysplasia of the hip, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, proximal epiphysiolysis of the femur where deformities of the socket of the hip joint occur, impairing the development and normal growth of the patient. In this context, the studies concluded that the early diagnosis together with the correct handling of the deformities that advocates the stabilization of the hip in a safe and functional way are factors that guarantee a satisfactory prognosis for the adequate growth of pediatric patients.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
