This study was aimed to propose a framework for the design and implementation of a competency-based curriculum for higher education institutions. For achieving the purpose, surveys were conducted with 300 companies at the southern regional area to find out core work-competencies that are needed in the work places. In addition, general education curriculum from 4 universities from the same area were analyzed and compared with the survey results to examine if the university curriculum satisfy the need of work places by providing courses that nurturing work competencies. The study found that abilities to work as a team and self-regulation are the core competencies. However, the participating universities did not provide enough courses for students to achieve the core work competencies that are mostly needed in the work places. Abstract. The purposes of this study were to find out whether teaching portfolios help preservice teachers with their technology skills and teaching practices, and find the items that should be included in the teaching portfolio. Based on the study results, portfolio items and effective ways of using portfolio was suggested.

This study explored the effective ways of managing the intensive-curriculum based on the analysis of current situations in adopting the curriculum at schools. In order to achieve the study goals, interviews with five middle school teachers were conducted and the literature regarding current situations about adopting the intensive-curriculum were analyzed. Based on the study results, effective ways of designing curriculum were discussed and teaching models were developed according to the subject areas.
The purpose of this study was to examine the current education issues in Korea by comparing instructional hours across countries. For accomplishing such purpose, a survey was conducted with 189 elementary schools, 94 middle schools and 42 high schools, 2010 OECD report was reviewed. Based on the research, the total number of instructional hours in elementary schools in Korea is around 610-710 hours, while the OECD average is around 760-810 hours, which is around 100-160 hours higher than that of Korea. In the case of middle schools, it is around 867 hours in Korea, while the OECD average is around 892 hours.
