Penambahan pelumas sering dilakukan oleh nelayan tanpa memperhatikan dampak terhadap mesin. Nelayan menduga dengan melakukan penambahan pelumas akan lebih menghemat biaya jika dibandingkan harus melakukan penggantian secara berkala. Secara umum mereka melakukan penambahan jika merasa volume dalam tangki mengalami pengurangan setelah melakukan pengecekan dan melakukan penggantian pelumas tanpa mempertimbangkan jangka waktu penggunaan pelumas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui pola penggunaan pelumas nelayan PPI Kendari. Analisis data menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan metode pengumpulan datanya menggunakan wawancara dan kuesioner. Total responden 12 kapal, dan 2 dari 12 kapal dijadikan objek dalam perlakuan pengambilan sampel. Kapal 1 dengan mesin Mitsubishi 6D22 dan Kapal 2 dengan Mitsubishi 6D16. Konsumsi pelumas kedua kapal yaitu 20 liter per bulan. Kapal 1 melakukan penambahan pelumas setiap (6 jam, 13 jam, dan 20 jam), sedangkan kapal 2 melakukan penambahan setiap 1 kali trip (12 jam, 24 jam, 36 jam). Pola penggunaan pelumas yang digambarkan dari total responden memperlihatkan tingkat kecenderungan nelayan di PPI Kota Kendari dalam penambahan dan penggantian. Nelayan dengan frekuensi penambahan lebih banyak memiliki jangka waku penggantian pelumas lebih lama dengan kecenderungan 57 persen dibanding penggantian dengan angka 43 persen. Pola penambahan dan penggantian pelumas yang digambarkan dipengaruhi oleh jumlah trip dan durasi trip. Waktu penambahan dan penggantian pelumas di PPI Kendari berdasarkan prediksi dan kebutuhan mesin kapal.Kata Kunci : kapal, konsumsi pelumas, mesin, pelumas
