PurposeIn responding to global issues of creating sustainable development, the Indonesian government has enacted regulations (i.e. Ministry of Public Works and Housing No. 05/PRT/M/2015) on the implementation of sustainable construction in infrastructure project execution. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the means of implementing sustainable principles in the execution of infrastructure projects in Indonesia by the main construction service providers and their partners. A lesson-learned is presented as a source of knowledge to underpin the extensive implementation of sustainable principles in the construction of infrastructure projects leading to an integrated approach in creating a sustainable infrastructure that fulfills the requirements of sustainable development.Design/methodology/approachThe method used is questionnaire surveys with Indonesian construction practitioners who are working on building construction, road and bridge construction, water facilities construction and house and settlement construction.FindingsFrom the results, the practices of sustainability principles by construction service providers in infrastructure project execution are imperative from the project procurement phase. The evaluation continues to the phase of construction project execution, which reveals the inconsiderable performance of sustainability indicators due to current constraints on the implementation of sustainability principles.Originality/valueThis research looks into the existing gaps between sustainable construction principles and their practical implementation in Indonesian infrastructure projects. This will foster a holistic approach in the practice of undertaking sustainable procurement processes, thus reinforcing project management techniques in the phase of sustainable construction project execution. This also strengthens the interrelated roles and responsibilities of project stakeholders by taking into account principles of safety, balance and the harmony of infrastructure and the environment.
The significant increase in Indonesian construction sector activity nowadays is also influenced by government financing for infrastructure projects. Therefore, the government needs to ensure that the infrastructure projects are consistently constructed along the project life-cycle. Phases of the infrastructure project life-cycle implemented in the Ministry of Public Works and Housing consist of 1) planning, 2) selection of service providers, 3) construction processes, and 4) construction product hand-over. Data collection using three rounds of Delphi Study was undertaken to empirically test the level of implementation of the project life-cycle indicators, which are used as standards to construct infrastructure projects. The respondents of the studies came from sectors who were executing infrastructure projects in the areas of Cipta Karya, Bina Marga, Sumber Daya Air, and Penyediaan Perumahan. The results of the studies concluded that the sectors have understood and implemented most of the indicators, however, different levels of implementation have existed along with the barriers of the implementation. From the studies, profiles of the execution of infrastructure project life-cycle were provided as references for the government to evaluate the performance of the sectors, as well as to take corrective actions to improve their performance.
Arah pertumbuhan Kota Manado yang semula menuju ke selatan sudah mengalami perubahan ke arah utara. Penyebabnya diperkirakan adanya kerusakan lingkungan pada daerah selatan Kota Manado sebagai akibat dari tindakan masyarakat yang dilakukan secara sengaja dengan alasan mendesaknya kebutuhan akan tempat tinggal serta diberlakukannya berbagai peraturan dan regulasi yang kurang tepat oleh pihak-pihak yang berwenang dan tidak berpihak kepada lingkungan. Hal ini terlihat dari adanya penyebaran perkembangan perumahan dengan tidak mengikuti tata ruang yang ada serta terdapatnya perkembangan pembangunan yang melintasi wilayah administratif antar Kota Manado dengan Kabupaten Minahasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa pertumbuhan Kota Manado dengan konsep pembangunan infrastruktur berkelanjutan. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan bahwa dampak positif dari pertumbuhan Kota Manado ke arah utara, Kecamatan Mapanget setelah banjir tahun 2014 berdasarkan data tahun 2015-2020 adalah meningkatnya pertumbuhan ekonomi, bertambahnya lapangan kerja baru, mudahnya penduduk mendapat akses terhadap bahan pangan dan kebutuhan sehari-hari, adanya peluang pembangunan fasilitas infrastruktur bertaraf nasional maupun internasional, serta adanya peluang kerjasama pembangunan fasilitas pendukung kawasan terpadu olahraga. Sedangkan hal-hal yang perlu mendapat perhatian sebagai dampak negatif yang timbul akibat pengembangan yang ada, yaitu: pemanfaatan dan alih fungsi lahan, pemadatan permukiman penduduk, peningkatan pasokan air dan energi untuk kebutuhan penduduk, pencemaran lingkungan, kemacetan dan kerusakan jalan, terjadinya peningkatan beban jalan, serta pencemaran udara akibat polutan yang dikeluarkan oleh kendaraan bermotor.
ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of technology application toward construction company’s performance located in North Sulawesi Province in Indonesia. The research population is the construction company which consist of 50 responden and determined by stratified proportional random sampling. The company performance’s indicator (Y) include: the level of productivity, the quality of the leader and technology improvement. The technology application variables include: Preparation Work & Sub Grade (X1), Aggregate Base Course-ABC (X2) and Layer Asphalt Concrete AC-BC & AC-WC (X3). Correlation Analysis is conducted to measure the relationship between X1 and X2, X1 and X3, X2 and X. Also, Regression Analysis is conducted to identify the relationship between one or more variable in technology application and the company’s performance. The correlation analysis shown that the number of Pearson correlation is 0,640 between X1 and X2 relationship, means there is a perfect positive correlation or perfectly related in a positive linear sense and it statistically significant by the p-value are 0,000 (< 0,05) . For X1 - X3 and X2 - X3 relationship, the analysis shown the same result. There is perfectly related in a positive linear sense with statistically significant. Then, the regression analysis result illustrated that there is multiple linear relationship between technology application and the company’s performance by the number of Fhitung = 511,156 which is more than Ftabel = 2,81 (N=50). Further, the result shown that thitung = 11,179> ttabel = 1,677 (N=50). It means there is a simple linear relationship and statistically significant between X1 and Y. The same result can be seen from X2 and X3 with Y variable. Keywords : technology application, impact, company’s performance. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan mengukur secara empiris besarnya pengaruh penerapan teknologi terhadap kinerja perusahaan jasa konstruksi di Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah perusahaan jasa konstruksi di Provinsi Sulawesi Utara dengan sampel sejumlah 50 responden yang ditetapkan dengan metode stratified proportional random sampling. Indikator kinerja perusahaan (Y) adalah: tingkat produktifitas, kualitas pimpinan dan peningkatan teknologi. Variabel penerapan teknologi adalah: pekerjaan persiapan & Sub Grade (X1), pekerjaan Lapis Pondasi Agregat (LPA) Kelas B & Kelas A (X2), dan pekerjaan AC-BC & AC-WC (X3). Dilakukan analisis korelasi antara variabel X1, X2 dan X3 serta analisis regresi untuk mengukur besarnya pengaruh penerapan teknologi dan kinerja perusahaan secara simultan maupun secara parsial. Analisis korelasi menghasilkan adanya korelasi yang kuat dan searah antara X1 dan X2, yang ditunjukkan dengan angka korelasi Pearson 0,640 serta berpengaruh signifikan dengan angka signifikan hitung sebesar 0,000 < 0,05. Untuk X1 dan X3 diperoleh korelasi sebesar 0,816 yang berarti adanya hubungan yang sangat kuat dan searah serta berpengaruh signifikan dengan angka sig. 0,000. Pada X2 dan X3 angka korelasi 0,72 yang menunjukkan bahwa hubungannya kuat dan searah serta berpengaruh signifikan dengan nilai sig. 0,000. Analisis regresi menghasilkan Fhitung = 511,156 > Ftabel = 2,81 (N=50), artinya bahwa secara simultan ada hubungan linier antara penerapan teknologi dengan kinerja perusahaan. Secara parsial, X1 berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Y. Ini ditunjukkan dengan thitung = 11,179. X2 berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Y dengan thitung = 5,733. X3 juga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Y dengan thitung = 7,291, dimana semua nilai thitung > ttabel = 1,677 (N=50). Manfaat penelitian ini secara teoritis dapat memberikan sumbangan bagi pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan terutama di bidang teknik sipil dalam hal penerapan teknologi dan peningkatan kinerja perusahaan jasa konstruksi. Secara praktik manfaaat penelitian ini bagi pemerintah dan dunia industri diharapkan dapat memberikan rekomendasi untuk digunakan sebagai bahan masukan dalam peningkatkan kinerja perusahaan jasa konstruksi dengan mengoptimalkan penerapan teknologi.
