Carbaryl (1-naphthyl methylcarbamate), Mesurol® (4-methylthio-3,5-xylyl methylcarbamate), promecarb (m-cym-5-yl methylcarbamate) , Zectran® (4-dimethylamino-3,5-xylyl methylcarbamate), and 4-dimethylamino-3,5- xylenol were successfully chromatographed on Chromosorb W support, surface-modified with Carbowax 20M. The intact compounds were detected by means of the nitrogen or sulfur response of an alkali flame detector. Calibration curves were linear over the range 4 to 2000 ng. Average pesticide recoveries of 90—100% were obtained from fortified vegetable samples.
Concentrations of abscisic acid (ABA) in purified extracts of ‘#3 Indianapolis White’ were measured with a gas liquid chromatograph (GLC) and confirmed by combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MC). Apices contained 1½ to 3 times as much ABA as young or old leaves. Plants under long day (LD) treatment contained more ABA than those receiving short days (SD). ABA levels in the apices of plants sprayed with ethephon, (2-chloroethyl) phosphonic acid, and receiving 2 or 3 weeks SD, were lower than in plants given only 2 or 3 weeks SD.
The present study shows that, if the electroactive area of a cylindrical RDE is surrounded by a sufficiently thick insulating surface, the limiting currents appear (within ordinary experimental error) to be identical with those of bellshaped RDE's. These results are consistent with the very recent study of Blurton and Riddiford. It should be observed that the present studies employed generally higher Reynolds numbers where the shape influence is likely to be less important. In addition it was found that vessel volume and size have negligible effects on at cylindrical RDE's. Although the effect of immersion depth was only checked with a bell-shaped electrode, it, too, appeared to have negligible effect.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
