Introducción: Las patologías crónicas no cancerosas afectan a un gran número de personas tomando en cuenta que no tienen una terapéutica curativa, capaz de enlentecer el progreso de la misma, por lo tanto, conlleva a la inminente muerte del paciente, y se considera primordial que puedan beneficiarse de la aplicación de cuidados paliativos, Objetivo: Identificar el manejo de enfermería al paciente no oncológico en etapa paliativa. Metodología: Se realizó una investigación cuantitativa, descriptiva, de campo. La población de objeto de estudio estuvo conformada por 15 enfermeras, considerando los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Para la recolección de la información se aplicó una encuesta de 20 preguntas cerradas, divididas en 4 dimensiones: Manejo del Entorno, Manejo Emocional, Manejo de los Síntomas, Apoyo Familiar de tipo Likert, la cual, fue sometida a validez y confiabilidad. Resultados: Demostraron altos porcentajes en el manejo del entorno y el manejo de los síntomas, sin embargo, se evidencia un inadecuado manejo a nivel emocional y familiar, por parte del personal. Conclusión: El desconocimiento acerca del manejo a pacientes no oncológicos y la incomodidad por ser un tema tan personal, hacen que en la actualidad exista déficit en el manejo de dichas necesidades. Las mismas deben centrarse en la individualidad, continuidad y flexibilidad, tomando en cuenta la evolución de la enfermedad, para tener un manejo adecuado de los síntomas, facilitar los procesos de adaptación, apoyo emocional, y contribuir a la comunicación entre el paciente, la familia y el personal de salud, respetando valores y creencias.
