The spider family Pisauridae, with 333 described species (Platnick 2014), can be considered as a moderately diverse spider family. Together with the worldwide distribution, its members exhibit an exceptionally wide range of foraging and prey capture behavior, from web-based hunters, water surface hunters to ambush hunters in the vegetation (Silva & Sierwald 2013). Among the African Pisauridae, members of the genera Euprosthenops Pocock, 1897 and Euprosthenopsis Blandin, 1974, forage on sheet webs (Figs 1, 2), the former moving upside down under the sheet web (Fig. 1), while the latter run on top of the sheet (Fig. 2). In his revisions of African Pisauridae, Blandin (1974) examined the general eye patterns and the structures of male and female genitalia of all the species then assigned to the genus Euprosthenops. He identified two species groups; species closely related to the type species, Euprothenops bayaonianus (Brito Capello, 1867), to remain in the genus, and he proposed a new genus Euprosthenopsis Blandin, 1974 for the remaining species, which are all close to Euprosthenopsis armata (Strand, 1913). Blandin (1974: 946) also proposed the synonymy of the genus Euprosthenomma Roewer, 1955 with Euprosthenops. The spider genus Euprosthenops was revised by Blandin (1976) and currently the genus comprises nine known species (Platnick 2014). Blandin (1977) also revised the genus Euprosthenopsis, which currently comprises seven species, all endemic to the African continent. In this work, the males of Euprosthenops australis Simon, 1898 and Euprosthenopsis pulchella (Pocock, 1902), both from South Africa, are described for the first time. New diagnoses for each genus are provided. Distribution maps for both species are also presented. The material examined is deposited in the following institutions

The araneid spider genus Verrucosa McCook, 1888 is revised. Five of the seven previously known species, V. arenata (Walckenaer, 1841), V. lampra Soares & Camargo, 1948, V. meridionalis (Keyserling, 1892), V. undecimvariolata (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1889) and V. zebra (Keyserling, 1892), are redescribed and illustrated. In addition, 37 new species of Verrucosa from the Neotropical region are described and illustrated: V. cachimbo n. sp., V. tarapoa n. sp., V. scapofracta n. sp., V. carara n. sp., V. latigastra n. sp., V. guatopo n. sp., V. cuyuni n. sp., V. benavidesae n. sp., V. rancho n. sp., V. excavata n. sp., V. meta n. sp., V. levii n. sp., V. chanchamayo n. sp., V. manauara n. sp., V. brachiscapa n. sp., V. macarena n. sp., V. pedrera n. sp., V. lata n. sp., V. galianoae n. sp., V. suaita n. sp., V. coroico n. sp., V. florezi n. sp., V. hoferi n. sp., V. caninde n. sp., V. opon n. sp., V. silvae n. sp., V. avilesae n. sp., V. tuberculata n. sp., V. alvarengai n. sp., V. apuela n. sp., V. bartica n. sp., V. cajamarca n. sp., V. canje n. sp., V. cuyabenoensis n. sp., V. sergipana n. sp., V. simla n. sp. and V. rhea n. sp. Mahadiva reticulata O. P.-Cambridge, 1889 is removed from the synonymy of Verrucosa arenata (Walckenaer, 1841) and is recognized as a valid species, Verrucosa reticulata. Araneus cylicophorus Badcock, 1932 is transferred to Verrucosa by Mello-Leitão (1946) removed from the synonymy of Verrucosa meridionalis (Keyserling, 1892) and recognized as a valid species. The male of Verrucosa meridionalis (Keyserling, 1892) is described for the first time. Distributional maps are provided for all species.

Two new species of the spider genus Enna O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1897 from Costa Rica and Peru are described and illustrated:Enna osaensis sp. nov. (female, Costa Rica) and E. moyobamba sp. nov. (female, Peru). The male of E. chickeringi Silva, Lise& Carico, 2008, from Costa Rica, is described and illustrated for the first time. Enna huarinilla Silva, Lise & Carico, 2008 is ajunior synonym of Enna caliensis Silva, Lise & Carico, 2008. Enna baeza Silva, Lise & Carico, 2008, E. bonaldoi Silva, Lise& Carico, 2008, E. igarape Silva, Lise & Carico, 2008 and E. trivittata Silva & Lise, 2009 are newly recorded from Peru. Par-adossenus junin Carico & Silva, 2010 is transferred to Enna O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1897. Trechalea boliviensis Carico, 1993and Trechalea lomalinda Carico, 1993 are transferred to Syntrechalea F.O.P.-Cambridge, 1902. New records of Syntrechalea lomalinda comb. nov. are reported to Venezuela and Brazil.

The male of Paradossenus pulcher Sierwald, 1993 and a new species, P. macuxi, from Roraima, Northern Brazil are described and illustrated for the first time. The monotypic genus Magnichela Silva & Lise, 2006 is a junior synonym of Paradossenus F.O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1903. Paradossenus amazonensis Carico & Silva, 2010 is a junior synonym of Magnichela santaremensis Silva & Lise, 2006 (type species). New data on the Brazilian distributions of Paradossenus acanthocymbium Carico & Silva, 2010, P. tocantins Carico & Silva, 2010 and P. pozo Carico & Silva, 2010 are presented.
