Introdução: A leucemia corresponde a uma doença hematológica com período de latência curto, desenvolvendo-se mais rapidamente. Gerando sérios impactos na saúde pública. Objetivo: Reunir dados acerca da tendência de mortalidade por leucemia na população infantojuvenil no nordeste brasileiro, entre os anos de 2009 a 2019. Metodologia: Estudo ecológico de período temporal de abordagem quantitativa. Foram coletados e incluídos os números de óbitos da população infanto-juvenil brasileira entre os anos de 2009 a 2019, com ênfase na região Nordeste. Os dados foram coletados entre março e abril de 2022 através do Atlas Online de mortalidade do Instituto Nacional do Câncer. As causas de morte analisadas foram a leucemia linfoide (C91), leucemia mieloide (C92), leucemia monocítica (C93), leucemias de células de tipo especificado (C94) e leucemia de tipo celular não especificado (C95). Resultados: Entre 2009 a 2019 no Nordeste, ocorreram 16.579 óbitos por causa da leucemia, destes, 3.010 foram na população infantojuvenil, com uma média anual de 273,63±19,601. Em relação à faixa etária, o grupo de 15 a 19 anos apresentou o maior número de mortalidade, com o valor total 776 óbitos. Os estados do Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, Sergipe, Ceará e Alagoas apresentaram as quatro maiores taxas de mortalidade da região. Conclusão: Estudos que procurem identificar padrões, sejam eles integrativos, sistemáticos ou ecológicos são essenciais não apenas para verificar qual a parcela da população que está sendo mais acometida pela doença, mas também para conhecer quais pontos ainda necessitam de atenção por parte das políticas pública.
