This article consists in a comparison between the ἰαματικά of Posidippus and the ἰάματα of Epidaurus. This comparison brings to light several points of concordance between the two works: identification of the suppliant, their place of origin, the type of sickness, divine intervention and the attainment of the desired cure. The epigrams of Posidippus offer a very abridged version of the sanationes, aside from condensing and stereotyping the parts of the ritual layout, which we also find in the ἰάματα of Epidaurus.
