Objectives:To evaluate the frequency of depression among Saudi patients, and to correlate between the presence of depression and type of diabetes.Methods:The research approach was descriptive with a convenient subject of 100 male and female patients (27 subjects with Type 1 diabetes, 29 subjects with Type 2 diabetes, and 44 subjects with gestational diabetes) from March to June 2014 at Al-Solimania Primary Health Care Center, Al-Olaya, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Patients were interviewed individually using an interview questionnaire sheet formulated by researchers to assess lifestyle items, and Beck depression inventory was used to screen for depression.Results:Thirty-seven percent of those suffering from Type 1 diabetes, and 37.9% of subjects with Type 2 diabetes were diagnosed with depression, while only 13.6% of subjects with gestational diabetes were diagnosed with depression. The results also showed that more than half of the study subjects do not comply with either glucose check, or diet regimen.Conclusion:This study revealed that there is an association between diabetes and depression although the correlation between depression and diabetes is not significant, while there is significant relation with changes in body image. Patients with diabetes should be screened for depression, provided referral to appropriate social services and psychosocial support, and involvement of mental health professions when needed.
Background: Improved recognition and awareness of compassion fatigue, burnout, and compassion satisfaction as basic components of professional quality of life among mental health nurses are expected to prevent emotional exhaustion, and aid in the identification of appropriate coping strategies and quality intervention. Aim: To determine the effect of training program about compassion on professional quality of life of psychiatric nurses. Study design: A quasi-experimental research design. Tool of the study: Professional Quality of Life Scale Version 5. Sample: All available nurses who provide direct care for psychiatric patients (50) nurses at the time of the study. Setting. The study was conducted at The Psychiatry Center of Tanta University. Results: The result revealed that there were statistically significant difference in total score of compassion satisfaction, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress through phases training program . Conclusion: The study concluded compassion has positive effect on improving professional quality of life of mental health nurses, and also confirmed the effect of educational training program. Recommendations: The study recommended by t in services training program for nurses about; how to assess and improve professional quality of life.

The psychological effects of COVID-19 offer serious concerns to mental health since they increase levels of fear and concern, which are already high, and because the situation is yet uncertain. Aim of the study: to explore the relation between worries, concerns and psychological wellbeing of patients with covid 19 pandemic. Subjects and Method: Study design: A descriptive correlation research design was utilized. Subject: A convenient sample of 250 patients with covid 19 from inpatient of isolation Department of Elmenshawy General Hospital which affiliated to ministry of health. Study tools: 3 tools were used: Tool 1: Socio-demographic and Clinical Data Structured interview, Tool 2: "Ryff's Scales of Psychological Well-Being, Tool 3: Worries and concerns of patients with COVID-19. Results: This study revealed that more than half of the studied patients have high level of autonomy, also the majority of the sample have high level of worries and concerns, while the quarter of the sample have average with worries and concerns. Conclusions: it can be concluded that, there was a highly negative statistical significant correlation between total worries and concerns level and total psychological wellbeing level. Recommendations: Further research on developing programs that are needed for a better understanding of relations between worries and concerns and psychological wellbeing of patients with COVID-19.
