The overall risk of infection in TIPC is low. Patients undergoing chemotherapy while the TIPC is in place do not seem to have an increased risk of infection, and therefore chemotherapy should not necessarily be viewed as a contraindication to TIPC insertion.
Radial probe endobronchial ultrasound (R-EBUS) provides real-time confirmation of lesion localization with bronchoscopy for peripheral pulmonary lesions. "Concentric" images indicate a lesion surrounding a bronchus and "eccentric" images indicate lesion position adjacent to the bronchus. While studies have demonstrated higher diagnostic yield with concentric views, there is no clear classification system for distinguishing the two nor for the range of different views that may be observed. This study was performed to assess inter-observer variability in R-EBUS image interpretation and to assess the influence of a grading system on interpretation variability as well as ability to predict procedural outcomes.
n/a INTRODUCTION: Post-intubation tracheal rupture is a rare complication of endotracheal intubation. Risk factors include female sex, chronic steroid use, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and mechanical factors such as cuff overinflation and multiple attempts. We present a case of post-intubation tracheal rupture in the setting of COVID-19 pneumonia and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
