This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of cognitive group therapy on self-efficacy and depression among divorced women. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest design with control group. In this study, all divorced women referring to Hazrate Zeinab Charity Institution in Varamin City, Iran were considered as the statistical population with a sample size of 30 subjects who were selected via purposive sampling and randomly assigned to the experimental (n=15) and control groups (n=15). A weekly cognitive group therapy was applied to the experimental group for 12 sessions, but the control group was placed on the waiting list. Assessment instruments consisted of general self-efficacy scale and Beck depression questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed using multivariable analysis of covariance. Results: Cognitive group therapy led to significant increase in self-efficacy (df=1, P<0.05, F=66.05) and significant decrease in depression (df=1, P<0.05, F=108.65) among divorced women. Conclusion: According to the results, cognitive group therapy is an effective way of decreasing depression and increasing self-efficiency in divorced women.
Introduction: Psycho-spiritual therapy (mind-body spirituality) is a multidimensional, transpersonal, and integrative intervention for breast cancer survivors. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of counseling based on transpersonal psychotherapy (spirituality therapy, mind and body) in reducing the fear of recurrence in breast cancer survivors. Methods: This was a randomized controlled clinical trial with a pretestposttest design conducted in Motamed cancer clinic, Tehran. Iran. Thirty breast cancer patients who had finished their treatment were randomly allocated to either an experimental or a control group, 15 patients each. Both groups completed the Persian version Fear of Cancer Recurrence Inventory. Then, the experimental group participated in transpersonal therapy for 14 sessions, a 2-hour session every week. Both groups completed the aforementioned questionnaire again immediately and two months after the intervention. The data were analyzed with an independent t test and the analysis of variance for repeated measures. Results: In the experimental group, the mean fear of recurrence was significantly lower immediately (58.87± 17.86) and at the 2-month followup (54.07± 11.88) compared with the baseline (106.80± 15.32) (P< 0.001). However, no difference was observed in the control group. Also, there were significant differences between the two groups in the mean scores for all components of fear of recurrence, including triggers, severity, psychological distress, coping strategies, functioning impairments, and insight (P< 0.001), except for reassurance. Conclusion:Based on the findings of the present study, counseling based on transpersonal psychotherapy can reduce the fear of recurrence and stress and increase adaptation and insight in cancer patients. This method increases relaxation, reduces stress, contributing to improved quality of life.
Background & Aims: Work motivation is a key to emerge and enhance the nurse's satisfaction and their work performance. Accordingly, the factors that affect the work motivation among nurses became essential instruments to modify and shape the work behaviors of the nurses and its consequences. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship quality of working life and emotional intelligence with work motivation of female nurses. Materials & Methods:In this descriptive-correlational study, the statistical population was all 2000 female nurses of karaj state hospitals in the year 2018.Out of this population, 322 subjects were selected via cluster sampling method, and were evaluated via Work motivation by Hackman and Oldham (1976), emotional intelligence by Sibrea Shering (1996) and work life quality by Walton (1973) questionnaires. For statistical analysis of data the descriptive and inferential statistics methods such as Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multivariate regression were used. Results:The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation between work life quality and emotional intelligence with female nurses' work motivation (p<0.001). Conclusion: considering the positive and significant relationship between quality of work life and Emotional intelligence with work motivation of female nurses, it is necessary consider their Emotional intelligence in the process of recruiting and they are taking measures to train Emotional intelligence. Also managers develop and implement programs to improve the quality of work life of nurses in order to increase their work motivation.
