A intervenção para aumentar a adesão ao exame citopatológico no contexto da Estratégia de Saúde da Família (ESF), pode ser entendida como um processo canalizador do processo de participação das mulheres na faixa etária de 50 a 64 anos, que fazem parte da área de abrangência da Unidade de Saúde da Família (USF) Altiplano II, que há mais de três anos estão sem realizar o exame Papanicolau. No Brasil e no mundo, o câncer do colo de útero é considerado um dos mais importantes problemas de saúde pública. Merece ser priorizada pela atenção básica à saúde, pois ações podem contribuir tanto para a prevenção quanto para o controle deste tipo de câncer. É um desafio para os profissionais da ESF, junto aos alunos do internato em Saúde Coletiva da Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Paraíba, melhorar a adesão das mulheres ao exame citopatológico. O objetivo deste trabalho é conhecer os motivos pelos quais as mulheres moradoras da área de atuação da USF Altiplano II, não realizavam o exame preventivo citopatológico e elaborar um projeto de intervenção para acompanhamento das mulheres orientando e estimulando, para aumentar a demanda. O projeto será realizado na unidade em questão, na cidade de João Pessoa/PB.
