Ring Opening Reactioas of J-Dinlkylamino-2H-nzirines with Carboxylic Acid DerivativesTreatment of the 3-dialkylamino-2H-azirines 1 a, b with acyl chlorides leads to 1,2-cleavage of the ring and formation of the N-acylamidines 4.
Cycloaddition Reactions of Heterocumulenes, XXII l). -Reactions of Thioketenes with 3-Dimeth ylamino-ZH-azirinesThioketenes 1 effect C = N cleavage in the aminoazirine 2 to give the dipoles 5a-c or the ketenimines 6dh, depending on the substituents of the thioketene system. Except for 6d, hydrolysis of 6 proceeds via 5 to afford 2-thiazolin-5-ones 7 and a-carbamoylthioamides 9. Thermally the ketenimines 6 isomerize in a formal [3.3]-sigmatropic shift to furnish ketene S,N-acetals 8. Also in the 2-monosubstituted,azirine 11, 1,3-bond cleavage occurs with 1 and yields thiazoles 13. In contrast, the 2-phenylazirine 16 opens at the 1,tbond in the reaction with 1, and leads to Zthiazolin-4-ones 20A via 19. The constitution of 20c was proved by an X-ray structural analysis. Chem. 1981
Cycloaddition Reactions of Heterocumulenes, XI11 ')Structure and Reactivity of the 1 : 1-Adducts from 3-Dialkylamino-2,2dimethyl-2H-azirines and Carbon DisulfideThe azirines 1 a -c react with carbon disulfide to give 1 : I-adducts 4, which in the crystal exist as dipoles B but in the melt as isothiocyanates A. On heating, 4a, c isomerize preferentially to yield 10a, c, whereas for 4 b splitting to 11 and methacrylic thioamide 12b predominates. On protonation, methylation, hydrolysis, and thiolysis, 4 reacts as the valence tautomeric species B, though this is spectroscopically undetectable under the reaction conditions, and 15 -18 are isolated. Amines trap the isomer 4A and give the dithiohydantoins 22 with the intermediacy of the thioureas 21.
