Pendidikan merupakan sarana untuk mencapai proses keilmuan yang memadai, namun masih banyak kalangan yang belum memanfaatkan sarana tersebut untuk mengasah dan meningkatkan kapasitas dirinya. Melalui program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) dalam hal ini tersaji kedalam bentuk seminar dengan tema “Pendidikan Era Milenial untuk Siswa SMP Negeri 7 Tanjung Kasuari Di Kelurahan Suprau Distrik Maladomes Kota Sorong bertujuan agar memberikan informasi kepada siswa/i SMP tentang pentingnya pendidikan dan mudahnya mencapai cita-cita melalui pendidikan. Oleh karena itu, peran dari semua pemangku kepentingan dapat lebih turut andil dalam menciptakan sarana dan prasarana yang memadai guna membantu peserta didik memperoleh pendidikan yang terarah dan baik. Kegiatan ini meliputi beberapa aktifitas diantaranya; diawali dengan memberikan motivasi, demonstrasi dan tanya jawab kepada peserta seminar. Dalam pelaksanaannya program ini menunjukkan beberapa capaian positif diantaranya; antusiasme peserta dalam mengikuti seminar, menumbuhkan minat belajar peserta dan terserapnya informasi baru tentang adanya program beasiswa bagi putra-putri Papua. Adapun harapannya kedepan dengan adanya program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat dapat lebih memberikan manfaat yang nyata dan membantu meningkatkan sumber daya manusia di Kelurahan Suprau khususnya dan Kota Sorong seluruhnya.
The Senior High School are still low in comprehending texts. Therefore, the main objective of this research was to see wheter the use of Two Stay Two Stray method was effective improving the students’ reading comprehension. The researchers used quantitative method. And the design of this research was quasi experimental design used one group pre-test and post-test design. This research assigned two groups namely control and experiment groups. The population of this research was taken at the tenth grade students in academic 2015/2016 of SMA Negeri 3 Sorong,with a total population were 175 students. Each group consisted of 25 students, so the total sample of this research were 50 students. The sample of this research was taken without randomizing. The findings of this research showed that the use of Two Stay Two Stray Method to improved the students’ reading comprehension at the tenth grade of SMAN 3 Sorong, because there was a significant difference between the results of posttest in the experimental group and the control group, where the mean score of posttest in experimental group was 83.6 which was higher than the mean score of control group which was only 72. To compare the two results between experimental and control groups, the researcher used t-test formula and the result of t-test formula was 3.696. By using the degree of significance 5% or 0.05 in the t-table it was obtained 2.021. Thus, alternative hypothesis (H1: 3.696 > 2.021) was accepted because t-test value was higher than t-table value and null hypothesis (Ho: 3.696 < 2.021) was rejected. Therefore, the researcher would like to conclude that the use of Two Stay Two Stray Method could improve students’ reading comprehension at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 3 Sorong.Â
This article reported the result of investigation washback on students learning and motivation along Reading subject as a test for EFL learners. Two main aspects were studied: students’ perception of the exam (attitude, content, methodology, course, and preparation) and student perceived to their motivation. A mixed-methods approach utilized to address the issue. Descriptive and frequency scale used to analyze quantitative data obtained from surveying 120 students. For qualitative, the data analysis elicited from observations of two classes and interviews with 12 students as representatives of four levels. The study found that students expressed positive rather than negative washback to both variables (i.e., learning and motivation) toward the exam. Findings indicated that the subject meets their needs and the test appropriate to measure their achievement goals. However, high-stakes testing still has leftover doubt feeling in preparation. Otherwise, the motivation, which covered content, methodology, and attitude, indicated, there is a positive attitude that affects students’ development, and it brings students to get an optimal point on the test.
