Bahasa Indonesia teachers should be able to create an atmosphere of learning that can motivate participants who are in the middle of adolescence (12-14 years). Teachers can use an interesting media to help learners in uttering ideas. This study done to (1) analyze the developing an instructional model assisted audio visual media of descriptive in Bahasa Indonesia lesson of junior high school; and (2) examine the validity, feasibility and effectiveness of an instructional model assisted audio visual media of descriptive in Bahasa Indonesia Lesson of junior high school. This research was development research. This research used to produce an instructional model assisted audio visual media of descriptive in Bahasa Indonesia lesson of junior high school and simultaneously test the validity, feasibility, and effectiveness. This research used 4-D development model which consists of (1) define; (2) design; (3) develop; and (4) disseminate. This research revealed an instructional model assisted audio visual media of descriptive in Bahasa Indonesia lesson of junior high school in the form of model book, teacher manual, student manual, and audio visual media video had been valid from linguistic aspects, content and learning materials, literary, display and presentation; practical based on the questionnaire results for students and teachers and the results of observation of learning implementation; and effective seen from the observation of students' activities during learning using the model. Social media is one of the most influential media in all sectors and structures of socio-cultural life, government law politics, science and technology, and especially education. One of the direct impacts on education is strengthening vs. reducing student character education. The purpose of this research is to (a) explore forms of directive speech acts, (b) identify politeness strategies for directive speech acts; and (c) formulate the implications of the politeness strategies directive speech acts of the #sahkanRUUPKS comments on social media towards student’ character building in the era of global computing-communication. This research is qualitative using hermeneutical psychopragmatic techniques. The object of this research was directive speech acts uttered in the #sahkanRUUPKS comments on social media 2019-2020. Data were conducted through documentation technique, note-taking technique, observation technique, and theoretical triangulation technique. Data were analyzed using politeness model of Brown-Levinson and Leech supported by analysis of politeness model of Indonesian socio-cultural harmony. The results of this research indicated that the form of public’s directive speech acts in supervising government policy plan through social media appeared to be actualized into suggesting, criticizing, reminding, appealing, calling, and reminding. The realization of the category of directive speech acts of politeness indicated that the Indonesian people are participatory and accommodative towards a new plan of policy that brings benefits and good for all. The category of the politeness strategies of directive speech acts are begging and asking had a small frequency because to control the government policy plan which is essential to the value order of people's lives requires strict harmonious control. The Indonesian people had a trend to use positive politeness methods in providing input to the government. The public at the general level still showed social awareness and sensitivity towards government policy plans that are circulated through social media coverage. The forms and intentions developing on social media can be wrapped into teaching materials to strengthen character education and the values of politeness for children in the learning process at school. This can be carried out by criticizing the news circulating on social media through positive politeness strategies and wisdom maxim. The wisdom maxim instilled in children is a vital pillar in strengthening children's character education in the era of global communication. The purpose of this study was to describe the shape of cohesion lexical and grammatical markers appropriate and inappropriate in a scientific paper. The research is a qualitative study using descriptive analysis method. The data source of this research is the thesis students of Indonesian Language and Literature Education STKIP Lubuk YDB Alung devoted to the background of the problem as much as 20 theses in 2017. The data in this study are sentences that contain lexical and grammatical markers cohesion in scientific papers student of Indonesian Language and Literature Education STKIP Lubuk YDB Alung which are words or phrases that are in between the words or phrases, intrakalimat, antarkalimat or antarparagraf. The results showed that the use of lexical cohesion markers there are two forms of correct and inappropriate form of lexical cohesion pemarkah. Markers of appropriate lexical cohesion include synonymy, repetition, antonymy, hyponimi, equivalence and collocation, whereas inappropriate lexical cohesion marker forms include repetitions and synonyms. The use of grammatical cohesion markers there are two forms of precise and inappropriate grammatical cohesion shapes. Appropriate grammatical cohesion markers include conjunctions, references, ellipsis and substitutions, whereas inappropriate lexical cohesion marker forms include ellipsis, conjunctions, references and substitutions. The most dominant form of cohesion marker used in the student's thesis STKIP YDB Lubuk Alung is a form of conjunction marker that is coordinative conjunction.
This research aimed to describe the validity and effectiveness of reading description text learning materials which are developed based on the principles of CTL for grade VII students. This research used the model of Plomp from prelimenary phase, development, up to asssesment phase. Validation of learning materials are described in four categories; material, presentation, language, and graphics. It uses validation sheet and test carried out in class VII SMP Negeri 12 Padang (about 31 students)by using achievement test and questionnaire. These results indicate that the learning materials developed in terms of feasibility is declared invalid content, presentation, linguistic, and graphicism have very valid and effective which is indicated by the results of student learning. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that the learning materials is worth a read text descriptions used in teaching reading skills. It is expected that this reading instructional materials can overcome the limitations of reading learning materials in junior high school. Keywords-learning materials; reading skill; description texts; CTL I. INTRODUCTION The learning of reading skill is a priority in Indonesian language learning in junior high. In the national curriculum, among 32 basic competencies (KD) that must be studied by first grade students, there are 16 competence begins with reading, after it had studied the speaking and writing skills (Kurikulum Nasional, 2013). Reading skill is critical in studying other subjects, therefore Reading Skill is called as the window of knowledge. Bahasa Indonesia is chosen to integrate the Natural Science (IPA) and Social Science (IPS). Integrating IPA and IPS into Curriculum of Bahasa Indonesia leads it to be a key in knowledge and science discovery (Suwandi, 2013). Recently, the recent researches on Reading skill tend to focus on its learning material. Learning material is very important thing in reading. It will be difficult to engage students to read, while learning material is not as it is shoud be. The learning materials for reading can be varied.
This research was encouraged by the lack of an explanation about the language politeness of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTsN) students in Bariang Rao-rao. This study was aimed to describe the form and strategy of politeness in speech acts in asking and answering questions in classroom discussions. The data collection method was a referral method, with advanced techniques, namely simak bebas libat cakap technique, recording technique, and note-taking technique. Data were analyzed by using the following steps: data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, and rechecking. The results of the study showed that the speech acts in the form of asking question that frequently used were speech acts in the form of questions that asked for information about something or someone grouped according to 5W + 1H using negative politeness strategy in the context of a quiet speech situation, sensitive topics, and speaker with speech partners had similar age. Furthermore, answering speech acts that tend to be used were speech acts answering in the form of answers in providing information about something or someone grouped according to 5W + 1H using a positive politeness strategy in the context of quite speech situation, the topic was not sensitive, speaker and speech partners were the same age.
This reasearch studies the hirarchy of affixation on Indonesian verb from derivational and inflectional morphology perspectives. It is a qualitative reseach applying structural linguistic method and making use of case grammar for semantic analysis. The result indicates that Indonesian affixed verb has five affixation hirarchical patterns including (1) D+ Inflection process; (2) D + derivation process + inflection process; (3) D + derivaion process + derivation process + inflection proces; (4) D + derivation process; and ( D + inflection process (inflectinal affix ber-)
Local political figures in West Sumatra are role models for people in areas such as communication performance. Communication politeness is important to be used by local and national political figures. In this regard, the research on the communication performance of local political figures both at the regional and national levels needs to be examined from aspects of politeness. The purpose of this study describes the form of violations of communication politeness in terms of the principles of courtesy and the principle of cooperation. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research to examine the forms of communication politeness violations of local political figures in West Sumatra in terms of the principles of courtesy and the principle of cooperation. The data of this research are oral speeches of local political figures in West Sumatra with the community in the form of oral sources. Data collection methods and techniques used in this study are methods of reading and recording techniques. Data recording is a speech recorded by local political figures contained in the youtube application online. Data analysis techniques are (1) data identification, (2) data classification, (3) data interpretation, and (4) conclusion. The research findings are as follows. First, there were four forms of violations of maxims in courtesy principles namely speech that violated the maxim of wisdom, violated the maxim of praise, violated the maxim of humility, violated the maxim of agreement. Secondly, three forms of violations were found in the principle of cooperation namely speech that violates the maxim of quality, violates the maxim of the relationship, and violates the maxim of the way.
The use of language in communication process is not limited to its function as a tool for delivering information, but also as an important tool for maintaining social relations. This can be realized with the use of the right language, one of which is by including the euphemism. This study aimed to describe the use of euphemism and its background in the headlines of Haluan February 2018 edition. The method used in this study is descriptive method. The results showed that the use of euphemism on research subjects was in the form of figurative expressions, flippancy, circumlocutions, abbreviations, one for one substitution, hyperbole, and jargon. The background of the use of euphemism was interpreted to: (1) avoid the use of some words that can cause panic and fear; (2) be nonoffensive, insulting, or demeaning to others; (3) decrease or to not mention something hurtful or tragic; (4) appear diplomatic or rhetorical; (5) replace taboo, vulgar, prohibited and negative words; (6) keep a secret; (7) respect others; (8) give critics politely.
