Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pembelajaran membaca di sekolah belum membantu siswa dalam kegiatan literasi membaca, khususnya dalam membaca teks hikayat sehingga siswa kesulitan dalam mencerna dan memahami informasi penting yang terdapat dalam bacaan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan penggunaan model pembelajaran sharing reading literacy terhadap kemampuan membaca teks hikayat siswa kelas X SMAN 15 Padang. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah one group pretest-posttest design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA N 15 Padang yang terdaftar tahun ajaran 2021/2022. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah Purposive Sampling, maka yang menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas X SMA N 15 Padang yang berjumlah 31 orang. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah skor kemampuan membaca teks hikayat sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran sharing reading literacy siswa kelas X SMA N 15 Padang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan tiga hal berikut ini. Pertama, tingkat kemampuan membaca teks hikayat sebelum menggunakan model pembelajaran sharing reading literacy siswa kelas X SMA N 15 Padang memperoleh nilai rata-rata 41,61 dengan klasifikasi 36-45% yaitu kurang (K). Kedua, kemampuan membaca teks hikayat sesudah menggunakan model sharing reading literacy siswa kelas X SMA N 15 Padang memperoleh nilai rata-rata 80,21 dengan klasifikasi 76-85% yaitu baik (B). Ketiga, berdasarkan hasil uji-t di dapat hasil uji hipotesis yaitu t hitung > t tabel (16,96 > 1,70). Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran sharing reading literacy efektif terhadap kemampuan membaca teks hikayat siswa kelas X SMA N 15 Padang.
