This study aims to determine the relationship between job characteristics toward work engagement through the mediating psychological meaningfulness. Subjects in this study were a primary school teacher in Yogyakarta who totaled 132 (N=132) of teachers. Our data was collected using the work engagement scale (vigor, dedication, and absorption), job characteristics scale (skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy, and feedback), and psychological meaningfulness scale (meaningful work, others around the work environment, the work context, and spiritual life) — the methods of data analysis used path analysis techniques developed from regression analysis. Results of path analysis indicated that indirect effect was significant (p2 0.332 x 0.332 = 0.110) and the direct effect of 0511. Therefore, the total effect of the work engagement is direct and indirect effect that is 0.511 + 0.110 = 0.621 (62.1%). This means that hypotheses were accepted, there is a correlation between job characteristics toward work engagement through psychological meaningfulness as a mediator, where the suitability of job characteristics will improve work engagement through psychological meaningfulness as a mediator, where the suitability of job characteristics will improve work engagement through psychological meaningfulness that also higher on the teacher.
The purpose of this study was to identify the Critical Success Factors Model for implementing e-learning in the Islamic university and to propose strategies derived from the perspective of holistic, consultative, and emancipatory. Analysis of CSF was trying to uphold the organization using research methods to identify the purpose of management as essential elements that were important in achieving the effectiveness of the change process. Data were analyzed from depth interviews and focused group discussion with university leaders, chief of Puskom, and quality assurance unit, referred to the number of CSF, which were grouped into 4 groups, namely: leadership, structural and cultural design, technology, and delivery of content. The result of this study shows that every element of higher education institutions is prepared to be able to attach them to e-learning in supporting the development of career or profession. So, we need the ability of universities to manage the change process through discussions with the proposed design objectives (goal).
In the present era of globalisation, higher-education institutions are required to focus on innovation to deal with the various challenges. Considering what Islamic higher-education institutions in Indonesia, have achieved in recent times, they face an uphill struggle to compete at the global level. This study aimed at identifying and analysing the dynamics of resilience for globalisation in a state Islamic–University in Indonesia. The results of studies on the management of Islamic tertiary institutions, specifically on organizational resilience, are very difficult to find. This study used the qualitative analysis method of a case-study and comprised in-depth interviews with key people concerned with the management of the university, observation, and secondary data namely academic documents, photos, and information from the university’s official website. The findings showed the university’s continuous efforts to improve not only the academic community’s management skills, knowledge, and expertise but also the implementation of international-curriculum standardization and cooperation with overseas universities. These actions cannot be separated from obstacles faced by university from within and without particularly in terms of funding-related policies. The university’s program-based innovations which are yet to be carried out by other Islamic-universities in Indonesia indicate this institution’s initiative to break the obstacles.
This research is aimed to determine the effect of behavioral self-management technique in decreasing internet addiction. The research subjects in the experiment were consisted of 7 university students. Characteristicts of the subjects were : 1) The duration of the internet usage was between 8 and 38 hours perday, and 2) had a medium of internet addiction, indicated by scores between 66 and 88. The experimental group was given a treatment in the form of behavioral self-management technique for four meetings. The data collection in this research was performed by using a scale of internet addiction. The data analysis method used was non-parametric statistic by using Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test to assess the difference in the scores from two related samples, i.e. The data of pre-test and post-test on the experimental group. The result indicates that behavioral self-management technique has an significant effect in decreasing internet addiction on university students (p=0,028).
The purpose of this study was to find out the correlation between the theoretical model of the organization’s capability contribution, participation, and the climate of change to the commit-ment to change. Subjects were Islamic University lecturers in Indonesia who experienced the organizational change. Findings reveal (a) the theoretical model designed in this study fitted the empirical data; (b) the determination coefficient (R2) of the commitment to change was 15.1%, which showed that 15.1% of the commitment to change can be explained or predicted through the organization’s capability, participation, the climate of change and the open-mindedness to changes variables; (c) the model was acceptable based on the fit model test with 60.785 chi-square value and .275 (> .05) probability, the CFI value was .997 (almost 1), and the RMSEA value was .022 (< .08). This study has found out the determining theoretical model of the commitment to change based on the organization’s capability, participation, the climate of change, and the open-mindedness to changes’ roles in establishing the commitment to change. The open-mindedness to changes as a mediator is significant, because without the mediator, the organization’s capability, participation, and the climate of change have no effects to the commitment to change.
