O Sul do Brasil, especificamente o oeste de Santa Catarina, por ser composto por uma população majoritariamente branca, é cenário de inúmeras manifestações do racismo em nossa cultura, articulado igualmente com as desigualdades de gênero e a xenofobia. Este estudo objetivou compreender os efeitos psicossociais do racismo sofrido por mulheres nordestinas que moram no Oeste de Santa Catarina, observando o processo de colonização e as possibilidades de enfrentamento desta realidade no contexto local. O processo de pesquisa envolveu entrevistas em profundidade com 4 mulheres negras e nordestinas, que moram em cidades do oeste catarinense, sendo a análise e discussão dos dados a partir do método psicanalítico. De modo geral pode-se observar que os padrões normativos de branquitude impactam na subjetividade e nas relações que estas mulheres mantêm com a realidade social, ocasionando efeitos de negação e rejeição do corpo negro, mas também configuram modos de visibilidade e resistência.
