The Minister of Justice Monica Maeland (Con.) said in an interview in May 2021 that crime victims have been forgotten. This is a severe judgment over the Solberg Government. They promised, when they came to power in 2013, that the consideration for crime victims should be emphasized throughout all criminal cases. Maeland has served as minister in three different positions since 2013. She has not forgotten the victims. A proposal to restrict victims of violent crime the right to compensation was sent on consultation last year. A law change, that restricts victims' right to counsel, passed through Parliament in 2021. The Minister has not forgotten the crime victims -when it comes to saving money. KEYWORDS Counsel for the injured party, crime politics, crime victims, State compensation to victims of violence and abuse
