Con base en el proceso histórico de transformación de la estación del Metro Hidalgo del Metro de la Ciudad de México, el trabajo muestra el papel político que tiene la cultura en la conformación y transmisión de una visión particular de la ciudad. La descripción de cada una de las etapas que conforman el proceso de transformación de este espacio muestra cómo la política urbana de renovación y recuperación de los espacios urbanos que se ha desarrollado en la Ciudad de México se ha extendido a los espacios del Metro, promoviendo una visión particular de la ciudad en detrimento de los usos y actividades populares que han construido su identidad social en relación con el espacio de la estación. De tal modo, la gran exposición, Involuntary que se instauró en la estación del Metro Hidalgo como parte de la celebración del 50 aniversario del Metro, es una muestra de las apropiaciones institucionales de los espacios públicos, el uso político del arte y la cultura y la falta de una política incluyente en el uso y apropiación de los espacios públicos del Metro.
Este artículo supone un esfuerzo por conceptualizar la capoeira como una comunidad emocional que se construye a partir de la interrelación de componentes humanos y no humanos, tales como la música, los mitos, los instrumentos, el cuerpo y las personas que integran el ritual de la roda de capoeira. Así, con base en una investigación etnográfica y en el análisis de otros materiales narrativos, el objetivo del artículo es describir cómo se construyen las comunidades emocionales dentro de un grupo de capoeira contemporánea, tomando como ejemplo la construcción emotiva y cultural de la conducta que deben de manifestar las personas para expresar que tienen dendê.
