No Brasil a agricultura familiar é responsável pela maior parte da produção de hortaliças e tem impactos na economia, na sustentabilidade e na geração de empregos. A produção de hortaliças em geral é realizada de maneira manual e pode gerar desperdícios de recursos, tempo e eficiência na produtividade. A demanda por hortaliças no país é cada vez maior e para atender a esse aumento há a necessidade de inserir novas maneiras de produção, visando a cultivá-las com uma maior qualidade e quantidade. Nesse contexto, o principal objetivo deste trabalho é auxiliar o cultivo de hortaliças por meio da automatização do processo de irrigação e o monitoramento da temperatura e umidade do solo e do ambiente. Para o desenvolvimento estão sendo utilizados componentes eletrônicos, tais como: sensor de umidade do solo, sensor de umidade e temperatura do ar DHT11, os sensores são interligados a um microcontrolador ESP8266, para o acionamento da válvula solenóide utilizou-se uma ponte H. Além da automação está sendo desenvolvida uma aplicação Android, em Flutter e Dart com armazenamento em Firebase com intuito de auxiliar o produtor no controle de suas atividades.
