As bibliotecas virtuais tem um poder de penetração bastante abrangente, pois conseguem atingir um maior número de usuários, pelo fato de que a plataforma é acessível de qualquer dispositivo móvel ou desktop, tendo como requisito uma conexão com a internet para ter acesso ao acervo das bibliotecas virtuais. É notório que as BVs, além de promovem e difundirem conhecimento permitem a inclusão digital, a democratização da informação, sem esquecer dos benefícios que a TI proporciona a todos aqueles que não tem acesso aos recursos tecnológicos. O objetivo geral desse artigo é analisar a temática biblioteca virtual do IBICT no período de 2002 a 2017, verificando se é significativa a quantidade de publicações dos discentes com a temática biblioteca virtual. A metodologia utilizada na pesquisa foi a Bibliográfica e Descritiva possuindo uma abordagem quantitativa. Como resultados da pesquisa, inferiu-se que durante 15 anos à quantidade total de 15 dissertações defendidas e disponibilizadas no BDTD são insignificativas pelo pequeno número de publicações realizadas. A análise dos dados mostrou um lapso temporal de 3 anos sem publicação de 2009 a 2011, demonstrando o desinteresse por parte dos discentes acerca da temática biblioteca virtual, tema de fundamental importância no acesso e disseminação de informações.
