O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar o rendimento, a prospecção fitoquímica, o conteúdo de compostos fenólicos totais e flavonoides totais em extratos vegetais de folhas da espécie Anacardium occidentale, popularmente conhecido por cajueiro. Foram utilizados quatro solventes para a extração: acetona PA, ciclo hexano PA, álcool etílico 70% (v.v) e água. As amostras foram coletadas no território da Universidade Federal do Maranhão, localizada em São Luís – MA. Os extratos foram produzidos usando a maceração. O rendimento em porcentagem foi determinado a partir do material in natura e a triagem fitoquímica dos extratos foi realizada através de métodos qualitativos colorimétricos e de precipitação. O conteúdo de fenólicos e flavonoides totais foi determinado através do método colorimétrico utilizando reagente de Folin-Ciocalteau e 5% de cloreto de alumínio. Os extratos de cajueiro apresentaram os seguintes resultados na quantificação de fenólicos totais: 820 mg EAT.g-1 para o extrato alcoólico, 476 mg EAT. g-1 para o extrato acetona PA, 280,23 mg EAT. g-1 para extrato aquoso e 243,76 mg EAT. g-1 para o extrato ciclo hexano PA. Os valores obtidos na análise dos teores de flavonoides foram: 11,89 mg EQ. g-1 para o ciclo hexano PA, 10,80 mg EQ. g-1 para a acetona PA, 4,35 mg EQ. g-1 para o álcool etílico 70% (v.v) e 0,915 mg EQ. g-1 para o aquoso. Concluiu-se que o extrato com maior rendimento total foi o ciclo hexano PA, em teores de compostos fenólicos foi o solvente alcóolico, e em teores de flavonoides foi o solvente ciclo hexano.
Este estudo teve por objetivo avaliar a qualidade bacteriológica da água da praia de São José de Ribamar - MA nos períodos seco e chuvoso. A partir destas amostras, foram isoladas e identificadas espécies da família Enterobacteriaceae, as quais foram avaliadas quanto à sua resistência frente à antibióticos comerciais. As amostras de água foram coletadas em três pontos da praia e encaminhadas ao Laboratório de Microbiologia de Alimentos e Água da Universidade Federal do Maranhão para realização das análises microbiológicas. Além de medidas de pH e salinidade, a identificação das enterobactérias foi realizada conforme a metodologia descrita em APHA – Standard Methods for the examination of Water e Wastewater. Estes microrganismos foram submetidos aos antibióticos convencionais utilizando-se o método de difusão em discos (MDD): ampicilina (AMP, 10 μg), gentamicina (GEN, 10 μg), cloranfenicol (CLO, 30 μg) e ácido pipemídico (PIP, 30 μg). Através dos testes bioquímicos, foi possível identificar 11 espécies de enterobactérias, entre as quais houve predominância percentual da Escherichia coli, em ambos os períodos do ano avaliados. Os resultados dos ensaios de MDD mostraram que apenas a espécie Citrobacter koseri se mostrou sensível a todos os antibióticos avaliados. Além disso, também foi possível constar que é todas as bactérias demonstraram perfil antimicrobiano sensível ao Cloranfenicol. Tendo em vista a presença de espécies da família Enterobacteriaceae nas amostras avaliadas, observar-se contaminação significativa na praia de São José de Ribamar.
Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a qualidade microbiológica de saladas comercializadas em restaurantes do tipo self-service, assim como determinar a atividade antimicrobiana de extratos de três plantas diferentes frente a bactérias isoladas advindas das amostras do presente estudo. As partes advindas das plantas foram submetidas ao processo de maceração. Os extratos vindos do orégano vieram das partes aéreas, do açafrão o extrato veio do rizoma e da planta goiabeira o extrato veio das folhas. Foram realizadas a determinação de coliformes a 45°C e a identificação da família Enterobacteriaceae nas saladas analisadas. O rendimento em percentagem foi determinado a partir do material seco, o conteúdo de fenólicos totais foi determinado através do método colorimétrico utilizando reagente de Folin-Ciocalteau. Os resultados indicaram a presença de espécies da família Enterobacteriaceae nas saladas analisadas. Os extratos das folhas da goiaba apresentaram a maior quantificação de fenólicos totais. Com relação à atividade antibacteriana, os extratos vegetais demonstraram ação bactericida frente as cepas testadas.
Observando a necessidade do mercado e os benefícios das plantas medicinais durante séculos, a presente pesquisa teve como propósito a análise do rendimento, triagem fitoquímica, quantificação de compostos fenólicos totais e a capacidade antioxidante gerada pelos extratos vegetais das folhas do Syzygium cumini fêmea. No S. cumini foram determinados o rendimento do extrato aquoso (3,886a ± 0,06145) e extrato etanólico (9,087b ± 0,2118) onde se notou a eficiência do solvente etanólico no processo de extração por maceração, pode-se considerar a capacidade de sequestro de radicais livres que são influenciados pelo método e solvente usados. A quantificação de compostos fenólicos totais dos extratos foi realizada pelo método de Folin-Ciocalteau, na qual o extrato aquoso teve como resultado 327,51 mg EAT.g-1 e o extrato etanólico 397,65 mg EAT.g-1, exibindo desta forma maior quantidade de teor de fenóis, na continuidade desta pesquisa também fez-se a busca fitoquímica onde apresentram-se vários metabólitos secundários como os alcaloides, flavanoides, saponinas, cumarinas, taninos e fenóis. O método para avaliar atividade antioxidante foi o ABTS, este ensaio fundamenta-se no potencial dos antioxidantes presentes reduzirem o ABTS●+ a ABTS, desta forma ocorre uma mudança na coloração passando de azul esverdeado para incolor. As folhas apresentaram maior quantidade de compostos fenólicos e maior atividade antirradical livre encontrada nos extratos. Entende-se que os extratos pesquisados das folhas do S. cumini conhecido como jambolão apresentou composição química fundamentada para o teor de compostos fenólicos totais, metabólitos secundários capacidade antioxidante pelo método do ABTS.
