Investiga-se a “pós-verdade” como ação política de comunicação. Através de desenvolvimento teórico e com auxílio de bibliografia especializada, busca-se evidenciar que o raciocínio crítico com as fontes de informação por parte do público alvo pode ser manipulado para reforçar preconceitos. Isso se relaciona com as características da modernidade, em termos de Giddens. Tal manipulação mira a confiança nas autoridades de informação critérios de legitimação: dos testemunhos, no caso do jornalismo; do conhecimento, no caso da ciência. Tal estratégia apresenta paralelos com a visão pós-estruturalista da política, caracterizada pelo questionamento das instituições que impõem critérios de discursos aceitáveis. Por isso escapa à deliberação argumentativa, prescindindo de veracidade e exatidão em seus enunciados.
