Background: Leukemia in childhood is the second leading cause of death among children that stated in the bone marrow and affected for producing stem cells. The nurse's and health care provider role is to help children and their families to accept the disease based on their education and its treatment.Objectives: The study aim to assess the nurses' knowledge towards nutrition and identify the relationship between demographic characteristics of the nurses with the knowledge (such as age, sex, educational level, marital status and years of experience). Research Methodology: descriptive study dealt with object-analytical sample randomly from the 40 nurses working in the Hematology Center pediatric ward at Medical City. The questionnaire was designed to gather information, and conducted a study to test a pilot questionnaire questions period (18th April/2021 to 10th July/ 2021). Data was analyzed by applying descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage) and deductive statistics (Chi-Square test) SPSS version (20). Results: The study has shown that female participants in the study sample more than males, and the percentage (57.5%) and over the sample aged more than 34 years, and the proportion (37.5%).
Background: One of the disorders for which cancer research and therapy are expected to bring positive results is a childhood acute leukemia1. Childhood cancer is a prominent cause of child mortality in affluent nations and a well-known contributor to malnutrition and death in underdeveloped countries, particularly those with poor socioeconomic level2. Objectives: The study aims to assess caregivers’ knowledge about nutritional status of children with leukemia and construct educational program according to the assessment needs of caregivers about nutritional status Research Methodology: Quantitative research “quasi-Experimental Study one group” carried out from the period of 9th of February 2021 to the 20th April of 2022. The validity of the instruments was achieved through a panel of (10) experts. The questionnaire is composed of two parts, each of which is divided into many sections. The first part deals with demographic information about caregivers, while the second part is separated into two categories, (first section contain 14 multiple choice questions and second section contain 6 true and falls question). The data in this study were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 26 Results: The current study's findings indicated that the group of (25) caregivers participants’ age group between (25-34) years represents (50%) and the mothers level of educational in the results of the presents study displayed that the percentage of those with university education accounts (1/4) of the total study sample and their number represents was (7) mothers. The family socio-economic status level in the result of the present study indicate that half of samples come from the middle levels. The present study result reveals the caregiver’s age with their knowledge pass the first section of the question and represent (15.4%) of the sample study, while the second section of the knowledge question represent (23.1) of sample study at age (25-34)years. Recommendation: Education program for caregiver’s with child leukemia to improve their knowledge and attitudes. Working on the establishment of compulsory courses for caregiver’s who have children with leukemia in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the centers of treating the child with cancer. The study aimed to evaluate children's emotional behaviors during COVID-19 pandemic in Mosul city and to find out the relationship between children behavior and their socio-demographic characteristics. A quantitative research (descriptive study design) was carried out from the 11th of May until the 2nd of November 2021. A non-probability (Purposive) sample technique is chosen for the current study. The sample involved of (620) children selected from the pediatric consultation clinics in the three of Mosul Hospitals. Scale was used called strengths and difficulties questionnaire (SDQ) for children behavioral screening. The data analyzed by the use of both descriptive and inferential statistical analysis procedures by SPSS version 26. The results of the study reflects abnormal emotional behavior represent by highest percentage (79.4%), and then this percentage was followed by (19.5%) with normal behaviors, while represent (1.1%) by borderline,. children emotional behavior shows that is more affected by preventive measures (lockdown and social separation) during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. The result of the present study revealed that is only a high significant association between children emotional behaviors with their gender of child's (0.015) and residence (0.000) at P. value ≤ 0.05 levels. The study concluded that there is a clear impact upon children's behavior due to the preventive measures (lockdown and social separation) that were imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Emotional behavior is more affected than other types of behaviors. Child's gender and residence of living shows high significant effects with total difficult score of behaviors. The study recommendation the following: detecting on children who have abnormal behavior and refer the suspected cases of having behavioral problems to psychological counseling clinics, that's because a long-term of disorderly behavior leads to mental disorders and may accompany children at puberty. Work on developing plans and programs for entertainment and dealing with children during the home confinement in the future when other pandemics occur or recurrent. Establishing psychiatric medical and Nursing consultations for children by communication with parents, or allocating a phone number for this purpose in the event of a lockdown when parents notice any changes in children behavior.
