ABSTRACT. Five representative potshards collected from the Tăşnad-Sere C 52 archaeological site were investigated in order to evaluate the occurring differences of the raw materials used and the technology applied. The structural and compositional differences shown by petrographic analysis (optical microscopy /OM/ and XRD) and FTIR spectroscopy data indicate that according to both the raw materials composition (clay sediments and temper) and the pottery technique the samples studied form two distinct groups.
The effective recycling of polymer materials remains unresolved to this day, and this has had a devastating effect on the environment. This study examines an alternative method to PET recycling that is the generation of polymer fibers and fiber mats for filtration applications. The electrospinning instrumentation used in this study had to be designed and built in order to carry out the research. We have managed to produce PET fibers with 200-600 nm diameter, and free-standing fiber mats that could potentially be used in filtration applications.
The laser surface-treatment methods have been quickly developed by appearing of lasers with high power beam and can increase the hardness, of the surface. A very hard, wear-resisting layer can be produced by the dispersing of ceramic grains. The essence of the technology is, that such a material (compound-phase, e.g.: metal-oxide, carbide, nitride, etc.) is added to the surface layer melted by laser, which does not solve or solves only partly in the metal-melt. This work studies the effect of the different technological parameter (such as, power of the laserbeam, motion speed, amount of the ceramic particles etc.) on the different microstructure accrued
during the laser surface alloying. The desired microstructure has homogeneous carbide distribution in the matrix. But it is embarrassed by several conditions. The aim of this present work is to find out the reasons for the inhomogeneous ceramic particle distribution inside the matrix and to discover these embarrassing conditions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
