Purpose This study aims to explore the main concerns and attitudes Basque adolescents have regarding online privacy. It analyzes their motivations for sharing private information and the kind of information they share. Likewise, it examines whether they consider the potential consequences of revealing certain information online and analyzes if there are any differences between the motivations and attitudes of young people from Gipuzkoa and Labourd. Design/methodology/approach For this study, three methods were combined to collect the data in 17 schools in the Basque provinces of Gipuzkoa and Labourd: a survey carried out among 1,133 students, out of which 242 also completed a diary and 482 took part in discussion groups. Findings The data from this research does not fully support the “youth cultures of disclosure” (James, 2009) in the Basque Country; however, some of these practices have been observed. Originality/value Time spent online by adolescents has increased sharply in recent years. This increase has brought with it concerns about youth’s level of awareness regarding online privacy. This is the first cross-border study conducted in the Basque Country addressing this topic (in the Basque Autonomous Community, administratively belonging to Spanish territory, and in the Northern Basque Country, administratively in French territory).
Mondragon Unibertsitateko irakasleak eta Hezikom ikerketa-taldeko kideakEuskarazko zortzi tokiko komunikabide badaude euskal Pirinioen eremuan (Nafarroa iparraldea eta Nafarroa Beherea eta Zuberoa hegoaldea). Mahai gainean jarri da zortzien edukien agregatzaile izango litzatekeen plataforma digital bat sortzeko proposamena. Ikerketa honetan aztertu nahi izan da zein litzatekeen komunikabide bakoitzaren jarrera horrelako ideia bati begira. Horretarako, sakoneko elkarrizketak egin dira komunikabide bakoitzeko arduradunekin eta eztabaida-talde bat komunikabide bakoitzeko langileak elkartuz. Halaber, Euskal Herrian garatu diren antzeko beste kasuen azterketa egin da. Agertu den kezka nagusia da, ekonomikoaz gain, horrelako proiektu batek lan-karga handiagoa eskatuko duela, eta oraingo egoeran ez daukatela baliabiderik horretarako. Ez daukate denek iritzi bera partekatu beharreko edukiei buruz, ez eta eremu geografikoaren naturaltasunari buruz ere. Haatik, lurraldea kohesionatzeko tresna eraginkorra izango litzatekeela uste dute, eta euskarari mesede egingo liokeela.GAKO-HITZAK: Tokiko komunikabideak · Euskal prentsa · Tokikom · Pirinioak. Creating a digital platform in the Basque Pyrenees: situation, concerns and opportunitiesThis paper describes local media in the Basque language in the area of the Basque Pyrenees (northern Navarre, Basse Navarre and southern Soule) and the options for creating a digital platform that would work as a content aggregator. The research has been focused on the attitude of each local media towards this hypothetical platform. In-depth interviews have been conducted with each media group director and a focus group with professionals from all the media involved. In addition, a case study of similar digital platforms in the Basque Country has been undertaken. The main concern of the people involved is, apart from economic issues, that the project would increase their workload which is already stretched. Different opinions have emerged regarding the content to be shared and along what lines to designate geographical boundaries. However, the project is considered to be worthwhile as a means of bringing cohesion to the area in support of the Basque language.
Mondragon Unibertsitateko Hezikom ikerketa-taldeko kideak1980ko hamarkadan, gizarte eta kulturaren arloan lan egiten duten erakunde eta enpresak hasi ziren erakusten haien jardunak sortzen zuen balioa ez zitekeela neurtu kontabilitate arruntaren bidetik. Horrela garatzen hasi zen balio soziala neurtzeko metodologia. Horretarako, ikertutako enpresaren interes-taldeen mapa osatu eta eragile horiengana joaten da, haiek enpresari ikusten dioten balioa zein den galdetzeko. Metodologia horretan oinarrituz, euskarazko komunikabideek zein balio sozial sortzen duten neurtzea da ikerketa honen asmoa. Goiena eta BERRIA komunikabideetan egin da neurketa. Kualitatiboki, euskararen zabalkundeari eta arautzeari egiten dioten ekarpena edo komunitatea kohesionatzen egiten duten lana aipatu dira, besteak beste. Jasotako aldagai guztiak neurtuta, ondorioztatu da bi komunikabideen artean, 2014an, diru-laguntzetatik jasotako euro bakoitzeko 9,22 euro itzuli dizkiotela gizarteari. GAKO-HITZAK: Euskal komunikabideak · Balio soziala · BERRIA · Goiena · Euskara.Social and cultural organizations started research about their social value, in 80', considering that traditional accounting was not able to measure the real value of the value of their business. By this way, a new method was developed: the measure of the social value. This method consists of drawing the map of the stakeholders of the organization, and doing interviews with each stakeholder. The aim of this research is measuring the social value of Basque media, using this method. The measure had been made in Goiena and BERRIA. Qualitatively, the most important value of BERRIA and Goiena is the contribution to the diffusion and normativization of the Basque language. The result of all the calculus of social value is that those media return 9,22 euros per each euro received in subvention.
