Madde bağımlılığıyla mücadele teşhis konulmasıyla başlar. Zira madde bağımlılığı hukuki ve hastalık temelli bir problem olduğu gibi ahlaki ve dini/manevi bir meseledir. Hukuki ve tıbbi yaklaşımların yetersiz kalmaları bağımlılık problemine karşı dini/manevi çözüm arayışlarını çoğaltmıştır. Çünkü din/maneviyat, bağımlılığa karşı hem koruyucu hem de bağımlılıktan iyileşme konusunda önemli bir destek imkânına sahiptir. Bunun için madde bağımlılığıyla mücadele eden bütün kurum ve kuruluşların tedavi ve iyileştirme programlarında dini/manevi içerikli programlara da yer vermeleri etkili bir sonuç doğurabilir. Bu kapsamda madde bağımlılığıyla mücadelede önemli bir yere sahip olan denetimli serbestlik kurumlarında yapılan manevi danışmanlık ve rehberlik hizmetleri, bağımlılık ve iyileşme süreçlerinde olan bireylere dini/manevi destek sağlayarak iyileşme süreçlerini kolaylaştırabilir. Bu çalışmanın amacı denetimli serbestliğe tabi tutulan madde kullanıcılarına yönelik dini/manevi içerikli programların önemini ortaya koymak, bu kapsamda denetimli serbestliğe tabi tutulan madde kullanıcılarına yönelik uygulanmak üzere araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen programın teorik çerçevesini sunmaktır. Araştırmada yurt içi ve yurt dışında bağımlılığı önleme ve tedavi etmek amacıyla oluşturulan psikospiritüel programların etkili olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu kapsamda bağımlılara yönelik dini/ maneviyat içerikli bir programın geliştirilmesi için araştırmacı tarafından alan uzmanlarıyla yapılan görüşme ve alan yazından elde edilen veriler neticesinde on oturumluk bir program oluşturulmuştur. Programın bağımlılık sürecine etki düzeyini test etmek için ise yarı deneysel yöntemlerden ön test-son test eşleştirilmiş kontrol gruplu desen kullanılmıştır.
