Bu araştırmada, eğitim-öğretim faaliyetlerinin verildiği ortamların/okulların önemli bir birimi olan öğretmen odaları; bu alanda geçirilen süre, yapı (fizikselmekânsal) özellikleri ve bu alana ilişkin mekânsal doyum düzeyleri, bu değişkenlerin kendi aralarındaki ilişkisi bağlamında incelenmiş ve tartışılmıştır. Araştırmanın yanıt aradığı temel soru, öğretmenlerin kendileri için ayrılan bu ortamda ne kadar zaman geçirdikleri, bu birimin fiziksel-mekânsal koşullarının neler/nasıl olduğu, öğretmenlerin bu alandaki olumlu ve olumsuz algıları ile ilgili bulgu ve sonuçlara ulaşmaktır. Araştırma, nitel yaklaşımla yürütülmüş ve durum çalışması modelinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılında Yozgat ili Akdağmadeni ilçesinde ilköğretim ve ortaöğretim okullarında çalışan 10 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak bu araştırma için geliştirilen “Öğretmenler Odası Günlüğü” formu kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın veri çözümlemesi içerik analizi tekniği kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, öğretmen odalarının öğretmenler tarafından okulda geçen süreye göreli olarak uzun süreli ve işlevsel kullanıldığı görülmüştür. Öğretmen odalarının fiziksel koşullar teması altında mekânsal koşullar temasına göre daha az veri kaydedildiği, bu kayıtların çoğunlukla olumsuz algılar içerdiği görülmüştür. Mekânsal koşulların yüksek sayıda veri kaydedilen tema olduğu ve bu kayıtların çoğunlukla olumlu algılar içerdiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğretmenlerin mekâna ilişkin doyum düzeylerinin yüksek düzeyde olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgulardan hareketle tamamlayıcı, alana katkı sağlayan ve öğretmen odalarının daha iyi koşullara taşınması yönünde çalışmalar yapılması önerilmektedir.
