A vitamina K é fundamental no processo de coagulação em seres humanos, sendo essencial para a formação de fatores importantes para coagulação. O anticoagulante oral varfarina, utilizado por pacientes com fibrilação atrial, prótese valvar cardíaca entre outras patologias; pode ter seu efeito alterado pela quantidade da vitamina K. O objetivo do trabalho foi elaborar um material informativo sobre o teor de vitamina K presente nos alimentos para os pacientes em uso de anticoagulante oral varfarina sódica, para isso, realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica buscando-se produções científicas relacionadas à vitamina K e o uso de anticoagulante oral. Os alimentos foram listados em três grupos de acordo com a quantidade em microgramas (μg) de vitamina K por porção (baixaaté 10 μg, média -até 50 μg e alta -aproximadamente 100 μg ou superior) e apresentados em
