Las plataformas de contenido digital muestran individuos realizando actividades que pueden ser calificadas como frívolas o peligrosas. Este artículo examina la problemática de la creación de contenidos digitales que abandonan la idea de excelencia. Esta se aborda desde la noción de la práctica y el desarrollo de bienes internos en la misma, propuesta por MacIntyre (2004), y desde la crítica al individualismo en la cultura contemporánea. Se afirma que el desinterés de los creadores de contenido digital por la excelencia, en el marco del neoliberalismo, representa una forma de éxito individualista que corrompe las prácticas y erosiona su sentido de comunidad.
Este artículo discute de forma crítica la visión neoliberal del trabajo como pasión y su papel en la pregunta por el sentido de la vida. Expongo dos alternativas a este enfoque. La primera, que juzgo insuficiente, se basa en una perspectiva hedonista del ocio. La segunda se centra en lo que llamo “ocio significativo”, el cual se caracteriza por actividades autotélicas, con una estructura autopropagadora y que se guían por el principio aristotélico. Este tipo de ocio ofrece una alternativa de sentido que se aleja de la productividad neoliberal y del individualismo consumista.
