A principios de año inicié una investigación sobre regadío y agricultura periurbana en Pachuca. En las primeras incursiones a campo se identificó que entre los usuarios existe cierta confusión al referirse a sus organizaciones de regantes; en algunos casos las nombran unidades de riego y en otros, juntas de aguas. Tal confusión, si así se le puede llamar, resultó más evidente al revisar expedientes del Archivo Histórico del Agua donde los regantes alegaban o solicitaban en nombre de sus juntas o de sus unidades. La situación me obligó a retomar algunos textos que ya conocía (Arteaga, 2009; Palacios, 2009, Palerm, 2009, lo mismo que a leer con mayor detenimiento el que a continuación reseño y que considero de suma importancia por los aportes que hace al tema indicado.Como lo refieren sus editores, el libro es producto de un proyecto de investigación cuyo objetivo principal fue identificar el impacto de los cambios en la legislación sobre las capacidades autogestivas de los regantes pero, como podrá constatar el lector, la Antología sobre riego rebasa con mucho el planteamiento inicial, ya que también aborda las capacidades autogestivas de los usuarios de sistemas de agua potable en zonas rurales, un tema poco abordado en México.El texto contiene poco más de 500 páginas y consta de un prólogo, una presentación, así como de una introducción general que da paso a un total de catorce capítulos. En diez capítulos los autores respectivos abordan casos de sistemas de riego de los clasificados como convencionales; es decir, con una obra de cabecera y canales principales y secundarios para distribuir el agua. Un solo capítulo aborda sistemas de riego no convencional y resulta por demás interesante, ya que el agua para riego es conducida por mangueras desde la fuente de agua hasta las parcelas. Solo dos capítulos tratan el abasto de agua potable, pero la precisión de los datos mostrados, así como de las conclusiones en cada uno de ellos, dan avances
