Determinate the runoff of a watershed is a challenge due to the complexity of representing all “inlets” and “outlets” involved in a rainfall–runoff model. Therefore, methodologies applied for this purpose should have a good representation of the variables that most influence in this process. One of the models used to calculate the design flow is the (USDA in Urban Hydrology for Small. Technical release, no 55 (TR-55). Soil Conservation Service. Washigton, DC, http://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&btnG=Search&q=intitle:Urban+Hydrology+for+Small+watersheds#1, 1986), which considers the analysis changes in soil coverage, time of concentration (tc), and recurrence period (T). In this way, this study sought to evaluate the hydrological behavior of a watershed with an increase in soil waterproofing. These modifications were correlated with the variation of runoff coefficients (CN), modifications of the periods of recurrence indicated by the literature, and different equations of the time of concentration. Its application was carried out in the Ribeirão do Suru watershed, Santana de Parnaíba, SP, Brazil. The CN {75; 80; 85; 90} increased 3.14, 5.61, 10.90 and 15.85%, respectively. In the most critical situation, runoff was 15.85% higher in estimated CN. The variation of precipitation as a function of T (2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 500) and application of 11 time of concentration methods designed 132 hydrographs and flow values that were statistically treated in T of Student and in the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Except for Bransby Willians associated Cinematic Method, Dooge with Johnstone and CTH with Tsuchyia, the pairs showed degrees of correlation below 59%. The greatest correlation was observed in Jonhstone with Dooge (90%), followed by the Kinematic Method with the Soil Conservation Service Method (83%) and with Dodge (74%). As a result, it was possible to demonstrate the behavior of the SCS parameters to minimize subjectivities and revealing how each parameter impacts the flow of the watershed. Finally, the sensitivity attributed to T was the highest among the three analyzed.

ABSTRACTAfter two decades of creation of water management policies in the State of São Paulo and in Brazil there are still barriers to its effectiveness as a water security tool. This paper aims to reflect on the functioning of the water management system with an emphasis on decentralization and the role of civil society in the watershed committees. The methodology is supported in the literature review, discussion of legislation and the authors' experience in Sorocaba River and MiddleTiete watershed committee (CBHSMT). The paper indicates some barriers in the functioning of the system especially in representativeness and the autonomy of the Committees. The conclusion is that despite the difficulties and obstacles in the functioning of river basin committees are still important spaces for popular participation.
Forests worldwide are essential goods for humanity as they provide support, provision, regulation, and cultural ecosystem services. In Brazil, the Atlantic Forest has lost much of its original cover, is currently represented by relatively small fragments in an anthropized matrix. Therefore, it is very relevant to analyze if forest fragments change in related the fragmentation of the original native vegetation and how they maintain their quality. This study aimed to analyze whether patch-level metrics are related to forest quality (biotic integrity) and whether relief features such as headboards are related to forest fragmentation patterns to provide subsidies for public planning and environmental conservation policies. The methodology involved mapping forest fragments (F) and drainage headboards (DH), calculating patch-level metrics (AREA, SHAPE, PROX), and the biotic integrity (BII) of the forest. Spearman's Correlation Coefficient was used to test the relationship between variables. The results showed a significative robust relationship between AREA and BII and significative medium relationship between SHAPE and DH, confirming partially the initial assumptions of the research. We concluded that the integrity of the forest fragment and the presence of drainage headboards must be considered in public planning and environmental conservation policies.
A B S T R A C T The development of relief, as well as the spatial distribution are conditioned on different factors, however aspects related to lithology and structure have a great influence on the control of a watershed. The Quaternary geomorphological dynamics of relief can be interpreted trough concepts of neotectonic, focusing on the study of the waterways in a watershed, since the rivers react to some change in the base level, even the most subtle, characteristic of areas intraplate. Thus, measurement techniques provide important data for studies in this perspective, in this sense, the aim of this study was to analyze the relationship of the Stream Gradient-Index values and standard of Longitudinal Stream Profile with the drainage anomalies found in the Basin of Rodrigues River, Serra dos Lopes-SP, to identify neotectonics dynamics in the area. Were applied such techniques in three rivers in the basin mentioned: Rodrigues river, Tanquinho stream and Sítio Velho stream. The first two comprise the transition between different lithologies and are divided by Shear Zone Taxaquara and presented several sectors with high values of RDE and anomalies of the Longitudinal Stream Profile, the third river is entirely in the sector of sedimentary basin and has no direct influence of ZCTT, nevertheless also has shown high values of stream-gradient index and anomalies in longitudinal stream profile. The systemic approach guided the integration of variables and results analyzed. Keywords: Neotectonics, Morphometric Analysis; Watershed; Drainage Anomalies
