In de late adolescentie en jongvolwassenheid kunnen al langer bestaande problemen opeens duidelijker worden en kunnen zich angst-en depressieve klachten ontwikkelen. Deze patie¨nten bevinden zich midden in een herdefinitie van de relatie met hun gezin van oorsprong en daarom dringt een gezinsgerichte aanpak zich op. Binnen de afdeling Angst en Depressie van het Universitair Ziekenhuis Leuven ontwikkelden we hiervoor een groepsgezinstherapie. Na een korte beschrijving van de wetenschappelijke verwijzingen naar gezinsverbanden bij angst en depressie van jongvolwassenen bespreken we achtereenvolgens de doelgroep, de doelstellingen, de organisatie en het verloop van groepsgezinstherapie. Vignetten verhelderen het specifieke van een groepsgezinstherapie bij deze populatie. InleidingOp de psychotherapeutische behandelafdeling van UZ Leuven worden volwassenen begeleid met angst-en depressieve klachten. Aan de patie¨nten wordt een drie maanden durend klinisch-psychotherapeutisch programma aangeboden in een dag (N=25) of in een dagnachtstatuut (N=15). Het behandelaanbod bestaat hoofdzakelijk uit vormen van groepstherapie. De groepssessies rusten op vier theoretische pijlers: een cognitiefgedragstherapeutische, een systeemtherapeutische, een psychomotore en een activatiepijler. De meeste patie¨nten krijgen verder een psychofarmacologische behandeling. Naast de groepstherapie worden individuele contacten aangeboden door een individuele begeleider (psychiatrische verpleegkundige) en door de GSO (geneesheer-specialist psychiatrie in opleiding). Na verkenning kunnen specifieke individuele therapiesessies toegevoegd worden. Het cree¨ren en onderhouden van een psychotherapeutische relatie is een centrale keuze bij opname (Migerode, 2003;Prochaska, Norcross & Di Clemente, 1994). Formeel gebeurt dit door een voorafgaand gesprek over behandeldoelen en door maandelijkse evaluatiegesprekken. Informeel gebeurt dit doordat het behandelteam de volwassenen zowel uitdaagt als steunt (Andolfi, Angelo & De Nichilo, 1989). Na afloop van de opname wordt het contact verbroken en wordt externe nazorg geboden. De systeem/gezinstherapeuten verzorgen groepstherapiee¨n, gezinstherapeutische sessies en de groepsgezinstherapie voor jongvolwassen patie¨nten. Dit artikel is gebaseerd op de eerste vijf cycli gezinstherapiegroepen op de afdeling.In onze patie¨ntengroep worden we geconfronteerd met een subgroep van jongeren (laat-adolescenten en jongvolwassenen) 1 . Deze zijn 'wettelijk' volwassen (18+) maar zij worstelen nog met de taken van hun ontwikkelingsfase.
